What you'll do
We will launch from the Port Hunter 16ft Sailing Club, hug the Stockton shoreline and ballast grounds past the ferry wharf and into the bay at Pirate Point. You'll be treated to a cold drink and snack on the beach before taking a stroll along Shipwreck Walk. I'll share stories of the area including its maritime history. There will be lots of opportunities to take photos as the kayaks use a pedal system , freeing up your hands. If you wish to paddle you can do that too. Tours launch at 8am Saturday, 9am Sunday (and public holidays) and every afternoon (check calendar for times).
Other things to note
Participants should be in good health but you do not need a high level of fitness to enjoy the experience. The kayaks are very stable. I am happy to answer any questions you may have.

I have played elite sport most of my life and have qualifications in sports administration and sustainability. I have worked for many years in the tertiary sector, designing activities to engage adult students in fun, safe and friendly activities. I am the licensed operator of Newcastle Kayak Tours and, as a Stockton local, take pride in sharing the beauty of the Stockton peninsula with its rich maritime history.
Where you'll be
You'll get to see the city of Newcastle from its busy working harbour, glide leisurely along the Stockton peninsula taking in views from Dyke Point to Nobby's Head Lighthouse. We will watch the movements on the harbour which regularly include big ships, tugs, ferry, shipping fleet and on occasion, cruise liners.

My partner and I had a great kayak experience with John on Valentines Day morning. We felt safe and well taken care of. John as a host was also very warm and friendly. Definitely a great way to spend some quality time with loved ones and John couldn't have been a better host!

The kayaking experience with John was great. 2 hours was a perfectlength of time, and the foot paddles made travelling through the water so easy. It was great to see and learn a bit about both the boat traffic as well as some of the marine animals. We even saw dolphins. I would 100% recommend this experiencefor anyone.

Thanks John - what a great way to enjoy the harbour - he doesn't tell you each kayak has a foot-pedalling option so you can lean back and power the boat with almost no effort at all! The paddle is there if you like it for a 'turbo mode' but we didn't really use them! So if you are not that fit, you can definitely still enjoy the exercise, we felt like we could pedal a kayak for hours. Lots of boats and jetskis and action on the harbour to enjoy while John gives you all the great information an experienced tour guide can offer. Thanks again for fitting us in last minute for a great experience! Tim
