What you'll do

You're going to learn more about the history of Charleston on this tour than any other tour in town. From modern-day Charleston, to how the city came to be, even mind blowing facts about how slavery worked.

But we start by discussing what's important to you about history. What you like, and what you hope to learn. This allows us to focus the conversation where you need it.

We use a story format, and we ask you a lot of questions to spur discussion. We'll walk down the path of Charleston in a funny, interesting, sometimes irreverent way. We're not going to sugar coat anything. Our job is to give you the facts and let you make informed decisions about history.

We start at Waterfront Park and head south to the famous Charleston battery. We see some amazing sights and have some fascinating discussions about the very colorful history of the early fort of Charles Towne.

When we’re finished we’ll end up very close to where we started none the worse for wear, and the proud new owners of the most valuable souvenir you can take home from your trip – knowledge.

Please keep in mind, the tour could last between 2 - 2.5 hours depending on several factors.

They call me Cooper. Passion is the only word to describe how I feel about the rich history of Charleston.

I’m a southern boy, and I talk a little funny - but don't let that fool ya. I have 3 college degrees. When I'm not teaching history, I'm studying it. I’m also one of a small handful of people licensed by the city to take people on tours.

My passion for history, the love of a smaller intimate teaching experience, and the historic detail I get to show you is why I love doing what I do!

So come on now Ya'll ... let's go talk about Charleston!

Where you'll be

On our stroll through Charleston’s Historic District, we’ll see many homes from before the revolutionary war. We’ll stand under the trees where 30 pirates were hung, and we’ll hold in our hands the same door knob that George Washington held. But only on this Airbnb experience will you see a famous piece of Paris mounted on the roof of a house.

Cooper made the tour very interesting. He included fun facts, he was humorous, and you can tell he is very passionate about the history and preservation of Charleston. We would definitely tour with Cooper again.

Really a great experience. Far beyond my expectations. Cooper was extremely knowledgeable and had the most interesting antidotes from a guy who grew up in Charleston.

Cooper was outstanding. He is a true expert. Our tour was interesting, fun, fascinating and held the attention of a 13 year old. The time flew by and we learned so much in such a small window of time. We will leave Charleston knowing her far better than when we arrived.

Very worthwhile and interesting. Cooper brought the history of Charleston alive for us. We learnt so much more than if we had walked around by ourselves.
