What you'll do

You will first pick out a piece of tree slab brought home from the local saw mill for your table top. Then Jo will share with you what she looks for while she is harvesting trees for the legs and how she goes about harvesting her material from the local woodlands. Next you will be guided thru the process of building and designing out your very own one of a kind sturdy rustic table using some very simple and basic building techniques.
Some tools will be used such as a hammer, drill and saw. No prior experience is necessary. You just have to make sure your table will fit into your vehicle.
A typical workshop lasts 4-41/2 hours. All wood, nails and tools are provided.the healthy snack provided.
Please note--if you have a date that you would like to do a workshop and it is not on my calendar, then message me and see if we can put that date on the calendar for you.
Also, there is a slight additional cost for two people coming to build one table. After all, you are both receiving a lot of knowledge and enjoying a healthy snack.
Other things to note
There is one friendly canine named Willow who loves to be part of the workshops.
I am right over the Ga./NC line. If you are staying in North Ga. area I am approximately a 30 minute country drive away.

I am a woods-woman and in the world of rustic builders I am known as The Willow Woman. I live on 12+ acres in the beautiful Smoky Mountains where I build all my own furniture for indoors and out. Over the years I have shown my work at the premier rustic furniture show of Adirondacks and have been published in a book on how to weave bark into a hanging lampshade. I have built a rustic pavilion for developers along with one of a kind arbors. I love to teach and share my passion for trees with others. I have been hired many time to work children within the school system and summer programs.

This is the most amazing workshop! Jo is very warm and personable and makes you feel comfortable immediately. Her workshop engages you and immerses you into the world of rustic art. There is never a dull moment and you are busy the entire 4 hours. Time flies by. I highly recommend this workshop to all takers, skilled and non-skilled. Jo is patient and explains every detail. Great snack as well!

This is a wonderful way to spend the afternoon outdoors. Jo immediately welcomes you into her home with a warm smile. You will learn about trees and appreciating the land around you. I loved that she has several different types of tabletops to chose from. The table is uniquely your design and with her guidance becomes a piece of art. I loved every minute of the afternoon and loving on Willow! I recommend stepping away from traditional activities and go meet Jo!!

Jo was the perfect teacher and host!! She is incredibly sweet and patient, and takes care to explain every step of the building process to workshop participants. Jo and her husband are very personable and interesting people. I had a wonderful time learning from them and working with them. Also, seeing all of the hard work and careful craftsmanship they’ve put into their home was truly inspiring. I can’t recommend this experience enough! It’s worth every penny and then some. I definitely plan to attend more of Jo’s workshops in the future.
