What you'll do

Join us and our llamas for a 2-mile nature walk and explore the trails on our farm. We'll walk trails along our pastures and into the woods with your own llama companion. You'll learn the history of the camelid family, llama domestication, and how llamas and alpacas are used today.

We'll also have the opportunity to tour the farm facility, meet the rest of the herd, and learn more about how we prepare and use their fiber.

Other things to note:
* We reserve the right to cancel an experience in the event of bad weather - we will walk in light rain, but will cancel in the event of heavy rain;
* We do not schedule these walks in the middle of summer (July and August) as it gets too hot for the animals, but will add days from time to time over the summer as we check the weather forecast for cooler days.

Each child under 10 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and will share a llama on the trails with an adult unless they've had prior experience with handling large livestock.

Please do not ask to bring your pup as saying ‘no’ makes us sad.

For more than 35 years we have been raising, showing, breeding, and training champion llamas in Albemarle county, and were among the first llama breeders in Virginia, winning national-level titles. We regularly host llama shows and fiber festivals both on our farm and around the state.

Your hosts for the treks will be Paige and Steven. They began hosting and offering trekking with llamas in 2017 on their farm, and at local parks and trails.

This was an overall wonderful experience. Llamas are the sweetest animals and this was the relaxing therapy that I needed. You can tell Paige loves and cares for her llamas deeply. You get to pick your llama to walk with and then you walk them around the farm property. Hosts were very friendly and professional and very knowledgeable on llamas. Definitely a unique experience you must check off your bucket list!

Walking llamas is awesome. Paige was knowledgeable and engaging; she made us feel directly at home and introduced us to llamas we could walk. Easy two miles with fun companions! 🦙 ❤️

If you love llamas and want to experience these beautiful companions in person, you must do this trail walk. Paige is so knowledgeable about her animals, showing, breeding, and caring for these beauties. She is a wealth of knowledge and you can tell she really cares for her animals. During the trail walk we had rest breaks for the animals and people which was much appreciated. My only advice is that you must have some endurance and ability to walk through woods with uneven ground, up and down hills, and a final big jump with your Llama over a crevice. If you are up to the above mentioned items, you will love this experience. After the walk was done we got to pet and visit with the mommas, babies, and rest of the herd that didn't join us on the walk. It was a really great time and I would totally recommend if you want an up and close, one of a kind experience with a llama...by the way they are adorable and have the biggest, sweetest eyes. Thank you Paige for a great adventure.

What a magical experience! Getting to meet a llama herd up close and personal, then take one for a walk through the fields and forests of the farm. A must for animal lovers!

I took my girlfriend here as a surprise for our 1 year anniversary together. We got to choose the llama to hike with and after a brief introduction on how to handle the llamas we were off. The hike itself wasn't strenuous; anyone would be able to complete the 2 mile trek. Overall 10/10, we had good time and how many people can say they've gone hiking with llamas?
