What you'll do

Join us and our llamas for a 2-mile nature walk and explore the trails on our farm. We'll walk trails along our pastures and into the woods with your own llama companion. You'll learn the history of the camelid family, llama domestication, and how llamas and alpacas are used today.

We'll also have the opportunity to tour the farm facility, meet the rest of the herd, and learn more about how we prepare and use their fiber.

Other things to note:
* We reserve the right to cancel an experience in the event of bad weather - we will walk in light rain, but will cancel in the event of heavy rain;
* We do not schedule these walks in the middle of summer (July and August) as it gets too hot for the animals, but will add days from time to time over the summer as we check the weather forecast for cooler days.

Each child under 10 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and will share a llama on the trails with an adult unless they've had prior experience with handling large livestock.

Please do not ask to bring your pup as saying ‘no’ makes us sad.

For more than 35 years we have been raising, showing, breeding, and training champion llamas in Albemarle county, and were among the first llama breeders in Virginia, winning national-level titles. We regularly host llama shows and fiber festivals both on our farm and around the state.

Your hosts for the treks will be Paige and Steven. They began hosting and offering trekking with llamas in 2017 on their farm, and at local parks and trails.

The most surprising thing was how calm and relaxing it was to walk with these gorgeous creatures. They are just sweet and I learned a lot from Paige about them.

Paige and the llamas were an absolute delight. My fiance and I booked this experience since we're going to be around Wintergreen/Charlottesville. I was first paired with King who was so chill and an absolute gentleman. My fiance was picked by Thucaman (apologies if I misspelled his name). My fiance and I eventually switched because Thucaman had too much energy for him as he LOVED to trot. I've never seen a llama this energetic! I'm glad we switched because it was a delight to be accompanied by Thucaman in our walk. After the walk, Paige even let us meet the baby llama, Lullaby. I will definitely come back and visit again next time we're in the area!!
