What you'll do

Join us and our llamas for a 2-mile nature walk and explore the trails on our farm. We'll walk trails along our pastures and into the woods with your own llama companion. You'll learn the history of the camelid family, llama domestication, and how llamas and alpacas are used today.

We'll also have the opportunity to tour the farm facility, meet the rest of the herd, and learn more about how we prepare and use their fiber.

Other things to note:
* We reserve the right to cancel an experience in the event of bad weather - we will walk in light rain, but will cancel in the event of heavy rain;
* We do not schedule these walks in the middle of summer (July and August) as it gets too hot for the animals, but will add days from time to time over the summer as we check the weather forecast for cooler days.

Each child under 10 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and will share a llama on the trails with an adult unless they've had prior experience with handling large livestock.

Please do not ask to bring your pup as saying ‘no’ makes us sad.

Your hosts for the treks will be Paige and Steven. They began hosting and offering trekking with llamas in 2017 on their farm, and at local parks and trails.

Do this! Not only do you earn awesome bragging rights for having spent a weekend walking llamas, Paige is truly passionate and knowledgable about her work and the surrounding land. After the walk is over, you get to spend a little more time getting to know the animals! Such a magical way to spend a weekend. I would recommend booking the early morning slots, as it can get a little warm on the trail. Thank you Paige and King the Llama for an unforgettable experience!

This was such a fun family adventure! The llamas are well-loved and have so much personality! The hostess was friendly, accommodating and told us the history of the land and fun facts about llamas. We hiked through beautiful fields and forest and passed by the 6th largest willow oak in the state of Virginia along a path that Thomas Jefferson likely took to get home to his Monticello. At the end of the hike, we got to meet the baby llamas and their mommas. Highly recommended! Thank you, Paige!
