This is a clean, modest, older styled home that suited our family of 4 nicely. It's in a good location for visiting Kenrokuen Garden, the Geisha and Samurai districts which are only about 15min walk away, however getting to/from Kanazawa station takes over half an hour on foot. Our host was accommodating and dropped off supplies like dishwashing liquid and laundry detergent, and communicated very well. We stayed here in the winter and woke up to 40cm of snow, so it was handy that shovels are available for path/road clearing especially if you've driven in. A number of the ceiling lights are turned on/off using a remote control and there's no wall switch, so be sure to look for the remotes. The kitchen has a mini toaster oven which we used a lot. Overall, our stay here was very pleasant and comfortable, and there were lots of heaters to keep us warm in the winter.

Hanayo was an excellent guide! She was friendly, energetic, and spoke English quite well! The tour wasn’t just about the Christian Samurai either, she told us about feudal Japanese history, architecture, culture, historical tensions and the context that the Samurai lived in. She also talked a lot about modern Japanese culture beyond and around the guide, and answered all our questions about modern Japan as well! We went 30mins over the predicted time, but I saw that more of a plus, than a minus. If you have something organised after, just communicate that with Hanayo and I’m sure she‘ll take that into account Overall, a great experience, and well done, especially given the price!
