What you'll do

We will visit the historical center of the city of Trinidad starting from the point where the town was founded in 1514, we will visit historic buildings dating from the seventeenth to the nineteenth centuries, we will learn the history of the village in detail while we walk, its culture, art and religion. We will analyze architectural styles and construction techniques of the colonial period, methods and strategies of conservation and restoration put into practice both by the Cuban government and by owners of some of these valuable buildings that today are private homes, some of themes we can visit because their owners are my friends. We will visit the main art gallery of the city that occupies a state historical building, as well as other private ones inside and outside the historical center, we will meet artists with an original work, disconnected from the touristic, commercial or souvenir market circuit, in their homes or private workshops not open to the public, as many are my colleagues and friends, we can share their experiences and talk about their work as we see them work. We will conclude our tour enjoying a traditional drink of Trinidad at the Café Don Pepe.

I graduated as an Art teacher in the pedagogical university of Sancti Spíritus and after working for 6 years as a teacher of arts I came to live in Trinidad in 2013 where I have lived since then, working as a hostal host, tour guide and painter, I am a sociable person who likes to make new friends, I like to read about art, history, theology and politics, I love open spaces, nature, art, music, movies, as well as camping on the beach and riding bicycle.

I really enjoyed learning about the history, architecture, and art in Trinidad from Duviel. Trinidad is a beautiful place and I wouldn’t have appreciated it as much without this experience.

Excellent tour! With a great combination of history, art and architecture in Trinidad. I also had the opportunity to ask Duviel a lot of questions about Cuba and Cuban everyday life in general. I highly recommend him and the tour. So much worth to get a highly educated guide with a lot of interest and passion!

We loved this art tour! It was definitely worth it for anyone wishing to better understand their cultural experience. I regret not doing this tour on our first or second day in Trinidad because it really influenced the way we understood the city and gave us many more things that we would like to explore during our time here. Highly recommend!

Duviel was very knowledgeable about Trinidad and taught me so much I never knew about the history of Cuba! He knew all sorts of interesting facts, and I loved learning from him. He was very open to questions and welcomed my inquiries. He didn't seem like he was in a rush and took his time to explain each place we stopped at along the way. I especially enjoyed visiting the Orisha temple/cabildo. Duviel knew a lot about the Yoruba culture and helped me understand more about important customs and traditions. I highly recommend Duviel's tour if you are interested in Caribbean history.
