What you'll do

** This is an original experience of Foodies, the most awarded culinary agency in Colombia. **

Join the Foodies' Chef for an authentic culinary experience full of local food, music and good vibes for only 2-4 people* in our kitchen with air conditioner in historic center.

In Cartagena we are fan of fish, plantain and coconut and we know to cook delicious recipes with them. Put on an apron, turn up the music, and get ready for a hands-on cooking experience learning 4 local must-eat recipes starting with the most famous snack in town: The arepa de huevo (egg stuffed arepa).

Cheer up to share a lively afternoon to discover the secrets of traditional cuisine meanwhile we marinate the fish for the ceviche (200 grs x Pax), grate the coconut, fry patacones and dance champeta**. Then, feel at home to enjoy a starter, main course and a coconut lemonade prepared by yourself. At the end, taste the Chef's sweet surprise and drink a cold beer with a sunset view in our little rooftop.

Cook with us and "wow" your friends with your new culinary skills when you back home :)

*. Due to the covid-19 please contact us for bookings for 3-4 people in private group.

We had a fun time cooking typical Colombian food with Alejandro. He explained everything well and we learned as we cooked, tasted and ate dinner.

Great experience. Mely is awesome! We had a really nice time cooking up some local delicacies, learning more about the cuisine or Cartagena and Colombia, and just having a great chat with her!

Melissa was both an amazing chef and a brilliant storyteller. Her passion for Cartegena: the history, the geography, the traditions and the culture was so wonderful and educational. She came to the Airbnb where we were staying because my daughter had knee surgery and couldn’t travel much. She and her crew worked in the guest kitchen like it was their own. They were professional and respectful that it wasn’t their kitchen and left everything spotless. The food was amazing: delicious sea bass made into cerviche, plaintain and arepas and a great dessert too. We had such fun and enjoyed the experience tremendously. We would recommend to anyone who wanted both a delicious dinner and the fun experience of making it, while learning about the culture of the region.

Meli was an exceptional host. Under her guidance we prepared the best meal we had eaten in Columbia. We loved every moment of the experience and could not recommend her more highly.

I really enjoyed this lesson. Unlike most other cooking lessons where everything is prepped and you just show up to stir, Melissa made me do all the prep work the traditional way so I understand what makes it so special. She cares a lot about Cartagena and it’s traditions and it comes thru both in the food and conversation. It felt like being in a friends home and learning their way of life first hand! Would highly recommend this class if you are interested in Colombian cuisine..
