What you'll do
We will meet in Industry City where history meets modern culinary and tech culture. We will sample chocolate from Li-Lac--a New York City Chocolatier since 1923--and learn about Industry City and our upcoming bike ride through three other neighborhoods in Brooklyn. Next, we'll hook you up with bicycles from CitiBike, New York's largest bike sharing system--and go over some safety basics for cycling. We will mount our CitiBike’s and ride to The Chocolate Room in Carroll Gardens. This Brooklyn based Chocolatier opened its doors in Park Slope Brooklyn in 2005—and I was there for the opening. It’s three-layer blackout cake was famously featured in O (as in the one and only Oprah) Magazine. Next, we get on our bikes and ride to Red Hook and Raaka--the newest chocolatier in our experience. Established in 2010 this unique chocolate factory is known for its un-roasted chocolate technique. Our last ride will be from Red Hook to the Pier in DUMBO (the newest tech capital in the U.S.), where you’ll get a brief history of the fascinating neighborhood and end our day at Jacques Torres—one of the first and most famous chocolatiers in Brooklyn.
I am the founder of Local Expeditions (2015)--a tour company with a local, sustainable emphasis--and a Brooklyn resident since 2001. I am a daily cyclist in and around Brooklyn. I am a licensed New York City Tour Guide with a passion for the borough of Brooklyn. I also love chocolate and know where all of the insiders go to find the highest quality. In my former life I was a History Editor in the college publishing industry. As a result, I have learned the importance of providing a cultural historical context when I offer my tours and/or experiences. I also love to tell funny stories.
You will get a chocolate sample at each of the 4 chocolatiers.
I will provide CitiBike access for a 24 hour period.

Where you'll be
I have a personal relationship with many of the chocolatiers and they have pre-arranged samples that a walk-in customer would not have access to. As well, the bicycle routes will bring us past many off the beaten path Brooklyn sites that only a local would know.

Up to 6 guests ages 14 and up can attend. Guests must feel confident on a bicycle. It is strongly suggested to wear a bike helmet. If you don't have one I can provide it. Most of the biking is flat terrain, but there will be some hills. 8 mile bike…
You’ll need to take a picture of yourself that matches the photo on your ID. This is so Airbnb can confirm who’s actually going on the experience. You’ll only have to do this once.
We will be biking approximately 7 to 8 miles. We will use bike lanes, but we will also be on active city streets. Attendees must be comfortable on a bike. Dress in weather appropriate sportswear.
