What you'll do
We will travel in time to 500 years ago placing ourselves in the Inca Empire. Like all human beings, the ancient Peruvians also had the need to record their experiences in a very interesting system called Quipu, which was a accounting system and also record information system through knots and levels in textile.
In our workshop we will talk about the history of the Incas and the ways of recording information in ancient Peru. You will learn in a practical workshop to tie up information just as the Incas did. We will talk about the value of each of the types of knots and the background of this Inca history.
We will also discuss what would be the way to read and what it would mean today for our contemporary researchers.
Other things to note
Previous experience is not necessary. :)

Fascinating and fun!
Christi is a knowledgeable teacher with an interesting personal story and personal connection to the subject matter of the class. Her class has a relaxing pace that allows time for conversation. Learning about this ancient communication method and why there is so much mystery around it was super interesting.
Highly recommend!

This is a unique workshop, combining Peruvian history and culture with handicrafts.
I created a family tree in the form of a necklace that is very meaningful to me. Christi is warm and welcoming, and clearly very knowledgeable about the history of the Incas.
I would definitely recommend this workshop as something very different and rewarding to do on a trip to Lima.

This was an amazing workshop - we had seen quipu's in the museum at Pachacamac, and to be able to make our own was amazing. We arrived late due to transportation issues, but Christi was SO accommodating and understanding - she took the time to explain everything to us again and helped us get started making our own quipu's to commemorate our trip to Peru. Would 100% recommend this workshop - you will get a special insight into Incan record keeping and make a unique keepsake! It was one of our favourite experience in Lima!
