What you'll do

We will leave the historical district of San Blas and walk along the Inca road that used to lead to the jungle. We will learn about the history of Cusco, from the time of the Incas to the Republican period, through colonial history. On the way, we will discover two temples that will teach us a lot about the history and the Inca worldview. We will follow the same Inca road that will make us travel in the memory, nature and culture of the place. After approximately 2 hours of walking and explanations, we will arrive at the Inca site of Inkilltampu that we will visit. We will learn a lot about technologies of agriculture, astronomy, food preservation and human activity management in the Andean culture. This guided cultural tour will be an opportunity to learn from the experiences of other travelers. After visiting the site, we will take another road for about 30 minutes to a neighborhood in the heights of Cusco, where we will take a taxi (not included, 6 soles the fare approximately) that will take us to San Blas. We will go back where we will start the tour.

Originally from Cusco, I like to explore new roads in the mountains that surround the city and discover known and unknown places by general public. Where you'll be

We will visit an open temple dedicated to Pachamama, Mother Earth, as well as a temple dedicated to the Moon (from outside because entrance is forbidden). Then we will visit the Inca site of Inkilltampu. The trails are not marked and the place is little known by tourists. It is not easy to get there without a guide. Inkilltampu is even little known by inhabitants of Cusco. It was recently restored by the Ministry of Culture.

More tips

The altitude difference is moderate. It is not necessary a big preparation, but even so it is good to be a little trained because of the altitude. I adapt to the pace of the travelers (no more than 6).
