Santiago, Chile

Experience hosted by Larisa

What you'll do

We'll explore the local markets, try some authentic street food & drinks, and talk about the traditional preparations while mingling with the locals. This experience will involve all your senses, especially the sense of taste. Get ready to discover genuine places where the real Santiaguinos hang out!

We'll make our way through two different food markets, stopping at the carefully selected stalls for samples from the land and sea. Don't expect anything fancy or elegant, just good hearty food and rustic ambiance. We'll then walk to a historic bar where you'll have an opportunity to enjoy the famous "terremoto" cocktail in an authentic atmosphere.

Both the tour and the tastings are included in the price. I'll also provide my personal recommendations, to help you make the most out of your stay in Santiago.

* Some of the samples are not suitable for vegan, gluten-free and lactose-free diet.
* Vegetarians who eat milk products can be accommodated.
* Our last stop is in a bar. By Chilean law only older than 18 are allowed to enter.

Hola! :)
I'm a lover of good food, passionate about Santiago, its culture and local traditions. As a tour guide I enjoy making travelers feel "at home" in my city. I'll take you to the places you would not find on your own and show you what it's like to be a Chilean, even if only for one day.

Where you'll be

We'll head to La Vega to sample at some of my favorite fruit and vegetable stalls, and chat with the vendors that I've known for a long time (I'll translate for you). We'll then continue to Mercado Central (seafood), while learning about the traditional Chilean dishes and preparations. For lunch you'll have a delicious empanada and we'll end our walk at the oldest local bar with the famous "terremoto" in hand. Salud!

Tour was wonderful, and extremely effortless. Larisa had arranged everything, let us pick out any foods we wanted to try from the fruit market and was sensitive to any food restrictions. Would recommend!

Our food tour with Larisa was wonderful. She took us to a number of local spots and walked us through the local produce and fish markets. Larisa had personal connections with many of the vendors in the markets. They all knew her and treated her and her group of tourists like old friends. Larisa showed us a slice of genuine Santiago life, and we loved all the foods we tried. It was a great experience overall, and we would definitely recommend it as a great way to get to know the real Santiago.
