What you'll do

We start in the morning picking you up from Monteverde or Santa Elena town. We drive for 25 minutes and we arrive to EL Tigre. From here we walk down in a muddy road to the trails for a couple of minutes. At the entrance of the trails (if the wheather let us) we will have a beautiful viewpoint that let you see 4 volcanoes and the low lands of Guanacaste and the Arenal Lake. Then we start to walk into the forest for about 40 minutes until we get to the first waterfall, called Jaguarundi. We are going to see several waterfalls from 2mts to 40mts high. We walk directly into the river and walk through beautiful and natural bridges and steep trails. We are going to share a small snack in front of the second waterfalls. At the end of the trails we climb up to the car by horseback riding. There is a small Soda ( very small Typical restaurant) where you can use the bathrooms and have lunch. Lunch or breakfast is not included in the price.

I'm the co-founder and web manager of the El Tigre Waterfalls. I grew up running between these mountains for years. I've done several courses obout nature, snakes, birds and vertical rescue in forest. Monteverde has 2.5% of the biodiversity of the world! Nature and hiking are my life. I've done the "W circuit" in torres del Paine in Patagonia, the Cerro Chato- Arenal Volcano, Sendero Pacífico Costa Rica and many other beautiful trails. I belive that there's always a connection between nature lovers!

Where you'll be

We are going to see 4 beautiful waterfalls that almost nobody knows yet because of the difficulty of the terrain. The town it's called "Monte de los Olivos". It's a private conservation reserve that I have exclussive access to. It's the perfect combination of nature and culture because the area is very rural so you will see how is like to live in a rural place in Costa Rica. Bring the camera! We have amazing landscapes

More tips

Lunch is not included but there is a small place where you can buy very good food and we stop there. The hike requires a medium-advance level of experience. It's good to have extra shoes because we are crossing the river and some small streams. Bring comfortable clothing to walk and water!
