What you'll do

Our walking tour takes in some of the famous colleges and historic sights of the city as you meander down quaint alleyways and tread the cobbled streets. You will hear quirky facts and stories of the colleges and their colourful alumni, all set within the context of English and world history, plus many fascinating tales of city life through the ages not generally mentioned in the guide books. We will take you to a church 1000 years old and reveal it’s hidden secret, down side streets to places of interest visitors don't normally see. You will go back in time to medieval Cambridge to discover how the University all started, visiting colleges over 700 years old and hearing their history. We will show you what it is to experience life as a student in a Cambridge College. All our tours are unique as we specialise in small groups and encourage interaction and questions.
Highlights of our walking tour include The Senate House, The Colleges of Gonville & Caius, Trinity, St John’s, Kings, Clare, Corpus Christie, Pembroke, Peterhouse and Queens. St Benet's church, an unusual clock, the historic Eagle pub, The Cavendish Labs, and the Mathematical Bridge

Hello my name is Tim, I run my own tour company called Guide and Peek Cambridge. I came to be a student in Cambridge over 40 years ago. I fell in love with the city then, and remain so to this day. I am a local historian with an intimate knowledge of the City, University Colleges and their colourful alumni. Having taken early retirement I am now fulfilling my dream of sharing this beautiful city and its quirky facts and stories with others. I set up my tours this year and have already received high praise for them as the 5 star Airbnb reviews testify

Just about everything uni related was closed at the time of our visit, yet Tim was able to give us some fascinating insights and held our party's attention for two hours with stories that brought the colleges' histories and notable alumni to life. An enjoyable, very informative experience delivered by a gifted and friendly communicator who clearly loves his subject.

Thank you to Tim, right from the beginning on booking the tour Tim was hugely accomodating and friendly. During the tour we both found Tim easy to get along with, very insightful and we had a good laugh with him as well. We got to hear some great student prank stories, got insight into bits we would have missed by ourselves and had a much better insight into the Colleges with the knowledge of Tim. I'd highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Cambridge.

We were lucky enough to be the only 2 on this walking tour. Tim asked what we had already seen and personalised our tour. He was very interesting and knowledgeable. We throughly enjoy it!
