What you'll do

We'll meet at Parliament to travel along the Danube on the tram then catch the city urban train to the village. The journey is 1 hour 15 minutes and you will travel a less-traveled tourist path through the industrial part of the city which quickly turns into beautiful countryside of fields, sunflowers, etc. The train is met by a local bus for the 15 min walk to the bridge where there is a market on Wednesday mornings and Saturdays which has the best local produce and artist wares, household goods, new and secondhand clothes and a few junk stalls. We then arrive at Old Buttons Museum shop Everyone refreshed I will tell you all about the 4000 Buttons in the Collection, from Roman Times to Present day , a unique talk on the Early Plastics; all the materials that are in the Applied Arts ; all the Fashions through the Ages and all the different Countries of the World. The shop is full of old Hungarian Folk Art and Nostalgia. A magical miniature World. Then you are free to discover the other wonders of the village before I help you return.
Other things to note
This is a Day Out as travel is about 1.5 hours each way. The Public transport system is excellent and you will be free to return to the city when you feel like as trains go every hour up until 10pm.

I am one of the top Antique and Art Valuers in the UK but I made an alternative leap in my life to live in Hungary fifteen years ago and haven't regretted it for a minute! In that time I wrote the book 'Old Buttons' book which sells Worldwide plus being an Airbnb Superhost. My dream was to open a small Museum with my Button Collection and when I discovered this idyllic river village I relocated there into an old pub which is my mini Museum, a shop, bar/cafe and I am currently finishing a luxury Airbnb guest house next to the 500 year old Szerb Orthodox church which has Hieronymus Bosch-type frescos and Baroque interior decoration. A rare Art jewel in Hungary and not that far from the city. The Country river-side market on Wednesdays and Saturdays is wonderful and plenty more for a great non-tourist railroad day out of the city.

I had a fantastic day with Sylvia - we got to travel by Tram & Train and see a part of Hungary away from the tourist sites. Sylvia is a lovely knowledgable lady it was a great experience going to the Market trying Palinka and buying souvenirs. The Button Museum was enlightening, so many different styles and materials I will be checking my button jar when I get home. Sylvia was a pleasure to spend time with I would definitely recommend this experience.

I love to meet and spend time with people who are passionate about what they do. Sylvia was exceptional in this regard. From the moment we met she made us feel welcome, and 'held our hand' as we discovered the countryside of Ráckeve. From a visit to the markets, to her wonderful cafe and Button Museum, Sylvia's experience, knowledge and passion was varied, deep and interesting. I loved this experience and recommend it to others interested in learning a little about the 'real' Hungary, visiting a beautiful and relaxing country area not yet discovered by the tourist industry.

My wife and I were so pleasantly surprised to find this experience brought even more than promised. From the start, we loved the presence, style and company of Silvia, a wonderful person. She explained to us that we could totally relax for the rest of the experience, and she proved to be a very gracious host! It was our first trip outside of the city proper of Budapest and Silvia showed us the ropes. The train ride to Ráckeve seemed to take no time as we took in the sights and scenery flying by. Once in Ráckeve, we saw so much! We were fortunate to visit on a market day, which was a great look into Hungarian village life. We also visited the local pub and a 15th century church that felt like stepping straight into the past. Silvia was attentive to the sorts of in-town experiences we were interested in, answering questions, coaching on Hungarian and enabling us to make the most of our time at the village. If you aren't already fascinated by buttons—and I was not—the button museum will open your eyes to an amazing craft that has been right under your nose your whole life. My wife and I cannot wait to see what gems we might find now that we have the eye to appreciate them. In summary, Silvia is a delight and this experience is a real treat.

Even though it was a bit of long journey Sylvia was a very cheerful and bubbly person so we did not even notice that we arrived at our destination as we had very interesting conversations trough out our excursion. She showed us the village, we visited a museum that included antique artifacts found in the village. Then we went to her Button museum which was amazing how many different quantities of buttons she collected. My opinion is a must see. Thank you Sylvia a very nice experience indeed. :-)
