What you'll do

I live in a penthouse with stunning views of 'Arc de Triomf' and W Hotel on the left, and Tibidabo mountain on the right.

The terrace is very beautiful, just on the rooftop of the building, decorated with plants and flowers and a beautiful pergola.

So, we can begin preparing a Sangria, to eat some olives and 'pa amb tomaquet' (bread with tomato, typical snack from Barcelona) with Serrano ham and some fuet (typical catalan sausage), while we start cooking all together. Hope to be a good teacher!

Once the paella is cooked, let’s eat!.

As dessert, we will have some fruits, (in winter with delicious sweet oranges from my orange trees from Valencia), coffee and cookies or cakes!
Other things to note:
I will take care of the groceries.
As a food handler I hold a license in food handling, called Food Handler Certificate.

My name is Maribel and I live in Barcelona.
During my childhood in Valencia, most of the time I was in the kitchen observing my mum cooking typical Paella on Sundays, over orange tree wood fire. I started to learn with her with great interest. Here is when my passion began at 18!
So 27 years of experience, cooking for my family and friends, I also took part in some contests, and cooked them during my french trip for six years.
I'm an easy-going person. I will share skills with my guests in a funny and easy way to cook the best original Paellas of the world, while having a real good time.

We booked Maribel’s experience for our last night in Barcelona, and it was, in a word, AWESOME. The setting is magical, on a rooftop, overlooking a Barcelona sunset. Over the course of 4 hours we ate, we drank, we laughed, and learned. Time flew. Maribel is the best teacher. She has a passion for making paella and her energy inspired us to cook the best paella we’ve ever had, which it was. No exaggeration, it was so good! As were the tomato bread and sangria, ham/cheese/olives, and wine. I wish I could give this experience more than 5 stars!

The main thing is that you get to know the secrets of making a super great paella. No recipe will teach you what Maribel learned from her grandma in Valencia. I tried it already a few times and the results are delicious.

Maribel was an exceptional host with the perfect location for a romantic dinner. She had all of the ingredients ready to begin cooking and showed us how to prepare sangria and appetizers before beginng the paella. After enjoying the skyline and appetizers, we began cooking. Maribel was extremely helpful and knowledgable. The end result was to die for. To top the night, we had mint tea (picked straight from her balcony) and small assorted desserts. Would highly recommend to anyone for a memorable night along with tips and tricks to take with you.

Maribel was such a genuine and authentic person. She provided way more than the description. Tons of Appetizers, a special homemade sangria mix, mint tea with fresh mint that she grows and dessert. On top of such a great paella! Literally the best food we had in Spain. She is also an entrepreneur like me and I love supporting small women owned business! We loved to love her and I know you will too!

Three friends and myself took Maribel's cooking class on our last evening before leaving our two-week trip to Spain. We couldn't have thought of a better way to end the trip. The cooking class was fun, informative, thoughtful. Maribel is a true gem. She did a lovely job balancing hosting with teaching, making sure we enjoyed ourselves while learning at the same time. She accommodated our preferences perfectly and we all just really enjoyed ourselves.

This was the best thing we did on our trip to Barcelona! Maribel was so welcoming and kind, so passionate and proud of her authentic Paella recipe and very encouraging. Her apartment is a great location, we'd recommend a rowing boat trip in Ciutadella park before you go for the paella experience :) We're looking forward to doing an authentic Paella for our friends and family back at home now!
