What you'll do
First we will start with a market walk at the Great Market Hall of Budapest (Szimpla Farmers Market on Sundays), where we will try local delicacies and shop for our cooking.
Then we will drive to our kitchen in the VII. district, about 10 minutes.
There we will try some Pálinka (Hungarian fruit brandy) and start cooking a 4 course traditional meal (starter, soup, main course, dessert), while trying local wines and talking about our traditions. We will cook together, and you will get to take the recipes home.
It is good to arrive hungry! :)
Other things to note
Please let me know in advance if you have any dietary restrictions or food intolerances or if you would like too cook a vegetarian meal.
Unfortunately we can't host a class under 2 guests.

I am a food enthusiast born and raised in Hungary. Culinary pleasures always had an important role in my and my family's life. Both of my grandmothers are from the countryside, but from opposite sides of the country, so I learnt different ways of cooking our traditional dishes very early on in my life. Cooking and talking about our traditions and culture is my biggest passion. Professionally I have been teaching cooking to tourists visiting Budapest for three years now and I hope to see you soon in one of my classes!

This experience was wonderful- from sampling food in the market, to preparing the food, to eating the delicious, unique dishes. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone interested in a authentic Hungarian cooking class! We were able to customize the food to our tastes, and they were very respectful and accommodating of dietary preferences (like vegetarian). We even got to take home the leftover food!

What a great experience - first, kata was very knowledgeable and everything was well organized. The market tour is such a must to capture the lifestyle of Hungarians through their food! Then we went to the kitchen to prepare amazing food. I will definitely do these recipes at home :). The only negative was the venue and equipment, which was a little basic. nonethless, I strongly recommend.

Amazing!
A friend recommended this tour to me, and it surpassed my expectations.
I love to cook, and am part Hungarian, so it’s not that I was necessarily learning all new things around the kitchen, but the whole experience was so thoughtful and fun.
I surprised my Hungarian grandmother with the class, and she absolutely loved it.

We started the tour in the great market hall and we were introduced to many locals food including various salamis, pastries, paprika as well as some historical facts on the hall
After that, the cooking class was super fun and easy with the help of our instructors - Kata and Rita. We made gulyás, chicken paprikas, and some Hungarian desserts. Had a wonderful time learning about Hungarian food and culture.
Definitely would recommend if you are visiting Budapest!

We had a wonderful experience. We booked this on the afternoon/evening we arrived from the US anticipating it would help us push through jet lag with an interesting start to our time in Budapest and it did just that! It was a great to get a personal tour of the market and introduction to the city so we were comfortable on our own the rest of our stay. Our guide, was very knowledgeable and friendly with personal stories of cooking with her grandmother Hungarian recipes. She showed us fun techniques they use and we loved the experience.
