What you'll do

Our 2.5-3 Hour Skyline Walk is a fun & enjoyable way to take in the city's famous buildings, historic sites and associated stories, wildlife, hill side meadows and woods with panoramic views across the city along difficult to find paths and tracks. One of the highlights being the elevated view over the city from Sham castle where we will enjoy a cup of tea whilst talking through city's journey from Neolithic dwelling to Georgian power spa city before its more recent role in World War II.
Descending back into the city we follow the cities famous waterways including the Kennet and Avon Canal and River Avon whilst using my local knowledge to see elusive including Peregrine Falcons, Kingfishers, Herons and Kestrels. Walking back into the city along our favourite way to come back into the city centre you'll see Bath Abbey, Pulteney Weir, Pulteney Bridge and Bath Rugby Club from a completely different perspective to most visitors to the city.
Throughout the walk we make recommendations on our favourite local cafes, restaurants and pubs that aren't in the tourist guidebooks!

My mum enjoys walking/rambling so I was keen to book a tour for her when we were staying in Bradford Upon Avon for her 65th birthday. Finding Darroch’s Wild Walks was perfect and from the moment of arrival he was very welcoming. Our group was only 5 and this made the whole experience personal and special. We had a beautiful walk around Bath while Darroch told us interesting facts, personal stories and ensured we were okay. He even told us a story for my mum about Haile Selassie which she enjoyed. We’d recommend the walk to anyone looking for a different side of Bath. There are steep hills so bring your sticks!

This is a nice way to see Bath and hear some stories linked to it. There are some steep hills to climb along the way but easy provided you are fit and able. Gary took us on this walk who was both charming and interesting.

We had a great walking tour with Gary. He was very knowledgeable about Bath and its history and knew a lot about natural history. He made the tour interesting and would highly recommend for something to do during your stay.

Great host and a great walk, welcoming and knowledgeable. Just what we were looking for! Communication and organisation are to be commended too. Will definitely do it again on bringing more guests on our next visit.

We had a fantastic walk with Gary, who had a wonderful way of sharing his expertise and enthusiasm both for the wildlife and environment , and the history of Bath. We learned loads in such an enjoyable way, were able to ask questions and I've taken away a determination to learn at least 3 new birdsongs every year in the way Gary suggested ( started this morning!) It felt like a real privilege to have this amount of time, just the two of us on this occasion, with such an expert and a very friendly person.

You don’t walk with a guide who knows everything about birdsong and worked as a sound engineer for wildlife films with Sir Richard Attenborrough every day! The stories were so interesting that we almost forgot to take in the beautiful surroundigs of Bath. This tour takes you to some hidden spots you wouldn’t find by yourself. A lovely morning all in all.
