About your host

Born and raised Buddhist in Singapore, Lee moved to Japan 7 years ago to major in politics & history at Waseda University. He now lives in the Tofukuji area and is developing a walking tour app for Kyoto. His fanatic interest in tea and the history of Shintoism and Buddhism led him to research the modern gardens of Tofukuji Temple. Walk in the gardens of the gods with Lee and discover for yourself…

Where you'll be

Tofukuji Temple is Kyoto's largest zen temple complex. It has dozens of sub-temples, not all of which are open to the public, and not all year-round. Finding out which ones you can enter and should enter depending on the season can be difficult. I have seen the temples in all the seasons because I live in the area, so I'll take you to three of the best depending on the time of year.
