What you'll do

Get up close to picturesque icebergs at Spencer Glacier lake after your scenic train ride on the AK Railroad’s Glacier Discovery Train. Chugach Adventures’ was the original guide service at Spencer Glacier pioneering the area since 2001. View panoramic mountain & glacial landscapes on a 7 mile river float down the pristine Placer River. This trip is one of the most scenic glacier river trips in Alaska.

We do have a large number of guests join us on this trip during our peak season. If you want a more private rafting trip we recommend joining us on a morning Glacier Blue Kayaking trip that has more time on the water and smaller group sizes.

Brook, Ari's best guide, was awesome. Great information, passionate about Alaska. Never ran out of stories, historical or otherwise. She has muscle strength and brain strength, too. The 4 of us, Jeff, Yunhi, Dean, and myself, enjoyed all her recommendations, including the restaurant. Thank you Brook for caring, for loving life, for loving people. "It's in the giving that you receive". I hope you've received from the 4 of us, as much as you've given us. We wish you the very best.... LOVE....

This was an amazing trip. While we couldn’t do the river float portion due to Mother Nature, our guides Brooke and Stewart were ready for the change in plans and instead we got to spend the whole time on Spencer Lake and getting up close and personal with the many gorgeous blue icebergs. And of course, getting to see the glacier was incredible. Add to that the relaxing train ride with unparalleled views to get there, this was a perfect trip. Highly recommend to anyone visiting the area!

This was not my 1st rafting experience, but it was for my guest and several others on our raft. Conditions had changed to make the lake harder to navigate and our oarsman chose not travel through the calfing, which is what we signed up for. The problem was most of the rafts did go through the calfs. If there was a reason we were excluded, it should have been explained before we boarded. An expensive disappointment when most of the participants were able to experience everything they paid for.
