Where you'll be

Our introduction to Ikebana will start at a hotel in the heart of downtown Tokyo where we'll see a famous Ikebana work. Then we'll go to Akasaka Hie Shrine, which is beautiful and serene despite its urban setting. We'll also visit a cafe inside the shrine.

This is the best Airbnb experience I have ever had. Mika is super nice and knowledgeable. I not only learned a lot about Ikebana, but also spent time with her and learned a lot about Japanese culture. If anyone want to have a great experience and learn about ikebana, you have to sign up for this! I would come back soon as I promised her!

My experience with Mika was Amazing!! I enjoyed the two days very much! Would definitely recommend people to experience :) When you are interested in Japan and nature it is a great combination :) You not only get to learn about flowers and other plants, but also will get to know more about the Japanese culture. We visited a local place with very tasty Soba :) Thank you so much Mika! Till next time ;)

Fantastic and insightful experience. Mika is exceptionally kind, friendly, knowledgeable and generous with her time. We not only learnt a lot about Ikebana, plants and flowers and the philosophy behind Ikebana, but also about Japanese culture. Mika's studio is in a lovely neighbourhood which we really enjoyed walking through. The cafe on the first day and the Ramen place we went for lunch on the second day were both fantastic. I had great fun learning and experimenting, working with a variety of plants flowers and containers to make Ikebana arrangements. Would highly recommend this experience.

I highly recommend Mika's class to anyone who would like to be initiated into the beautiful art of ikebana. We took the class with my mom and absolutely loved it - we were impressed by Mika's passion and depth of knowledge but also by her warmth and personable style when teaching. On the first day, Mika showed us around a Shinto shrine, explaining the origins of ikebana and some of its basic principles. On the second day, Mika invited us to her beautiful home and taught us the basics of ikebana: we worked on a traditional-style arrangement in the morning and on a free arrangement in the afternoon. Mika encouraged us to be bold and to experiment and guided us all along the way. Exquisite ikebana was an absolute delight of an experience and I am speaking for both myself and my mum when I say that we hope to meet Mika in near future again.
