My name is Robert Agrippino i was born and still live here in the North End of Boston( Little Italy) in 1958. We will feast on food culture and personal stories of this unique neighbourhood. My guest will experience all the changes that have taken place and the gentrification that started happening in the late 70s. I grew up taking my first job as a dishwasher in one of our local restaurants and then becoming a busboy a waiter and learned the restaurant business from a couple of Italian immigrants and going on to opening my own restaurants. I know all the best establishments and all of the shopkeepers which makes for an authentic experience. The shops we visit are all places that I myself and the locals eat in. There are NO tourist traps on this tour. We will eat like REAL ITALIANS and along the the tour we will meet REAL ITALIANS.

My husband and I have lived in Boston for 18 years and often go to the North End. It’s a favorite place for us. But Robert took us down streets and side alleys and hidden places to eat we would have never found on our own. If I tell you he knows every Italian in the North End I am not exaggerating. He grew up in the North End and the personal stories transported us in time and we could just imagine what life had been like in this special part of Boston from 1860 to the 1990’s before gentrification. This was one of the best birthday gifts! I could not recommend it more highly!

Communication with Robert was easy. He kept in touch right to the last minute. I bought the tour as a gift for my daughter and her friend; this was her response after taking the tour: “Great tour! Food was delicious and Robert was a great guide! His personal history of the area and knowledge of the city made it very interesting. Everywhere we went people waved to him on the street, even previous attendants of the tour! He was patient as we stopped to make purchases at the different venues also. Definitely didn’t leave hungry! I will book a tour the very next time I’m in the city!”

This was an incredible and unique experience!! Bobby made us feel like we were part of the North End community. Every corner he saw a friend or relative and it made us appreciate the culture of the area even more. He even so kindly found a way to accommodate my friends vegetarianism. The food was obviously incredible (how exciting to skip the long line at famous Mike’s) but the tour was so much more than the food!

The food was simply delicious and as promised very filling. I highly recommend this food tour if you desire to have a true experience of north Boston from its past to current flavor. Bobby the host is one of the best we have experienced in a series of food tours.

Had a wonderful time seeing a side of Boston I would not have otherwise known much about! This has been the highlight of my trip. I recommend Robert because he was kind, very knowledgeable, and easy to talk to. The fact that he grew up here made the experience more unique with great stories and insights you won't get from someone else. Also enjoyed seeing people greeting him on the street and in the stores. In my opinion, a native guide is a great way to respect the area and you'll benefit so much more. Thanks Robert!
