What you'll do

Get outta town! Go beyond the usual tour bus experience on this tour that will literally take you out of Mexico City to see Teotihuacan pyramids. Try local "delights" like cactus candy, sip on ancient pre-Hispanic brews, and dine with a local family in their own home. Best part: you’ll be supporting local family businesses, to really give you an itinerary worth bragging about.

Highlights
- Head out of Mexico City to learn about Teotihuacan culture, from pre-Hispanic pyramids through to modern handicrafts
- Recharge your energy at the top of the spectacular Sun Pyramid
- Explore local towns and visit two independent, family-run businesses where you can pick up authentic, locally-made (or grown) souvenirs such as tequila, candy and cacti
- Sample sweets, agave syrup, tuna fruit and more made out of different varieties of cactus, as well as the sacred ancient drink of ‘pulque’
- Finish your day with a delicious dinner in a Mexican family home, with food straight from local organic farms
Other things to note
We recommend to dress conservatively as we will be visiting non-touristy areas. Leave your valuables, such as passports and credit cards in the hotel and bring a small amount of spending cash.

Where you'll be

We will make a stop at the archaeological wonder that is the Teotihuacan pyramids, where your guide will fill you in on the mysterious history of this sacred site.

After exploring the pyramids, we will make our way to a family-run factory/shop that specializes in local products.

Finally after working up an appetite climbing pyramids and shopping for souvenirs, we’ll take you to a friend’s house for a memorable dinner.

Adrian was the most wonderful! He was easy to talk to and told us many interesting facts about the temples. He took care of everything which really made the experience fun and stress free. The stop at Miguel's place was truly a unique experience, as well as the home cooked meal. Cannot say enough great things about this experience!

Our tour guide, Adrian, was super accommodating! He figured out all the scary stuff (figuring out which bus, subway, etc to take) and waited for us even though we were about 10 minutes late (our Uber dropped us off at the wrong location). Miguel and his family were also very sweet and knowledgeable! They had a lot a really cool/neat stuff in their shop that I recommend checking out (yes, they accept VISA/MC). Overall the experience was great! I would book this tour again.

A highlight of our trip to Mexico City. The visit was very well-organized, despite coinciding with chaotic International Women's Day events in the historic center, and our guide Milton was fantastic- so friendly and knowledgable. The whole group learned a lot and we were glad to get to see the pyramids early in the morning so as to beat the crowds. We also loved our delicious lunch with the incredibly welcoming local family and getting to explore the surrounding area. Would recommend to anyone considering booking- truly not many Airbnb experiences out there like this. Mil gracias, Evita & friends!

The trip was fantastic. The car ride was much quicker than expected, our guide was very well versed in the history of CDMX/Teotihuacán/native cultures, and the pitstops we made on the way back were warm and welcoming.

Das war eine tolle Tour! Besonders gut hat uns das Essen bei einer mexikanischen Familie und der Besuch bei einer Familie, die Steine schleift, gefallen
