What you'll do

We start this experience talking about Agave and Mezcal. I will receive you in our nice Patio in a place ubicated just 1 block from the market 20 de noviembre. We will start talking about Oaxaca and our history. We will talk about the different kind of agaves and differences between lands and producers. After that we will choose between at least 10 options of agaves and we will start our tasting choosing 3 options. I will share with you some guacamole after the tasting. isn't It enough? Let's taste Gin Vodka or Rum produced in Oaxaca. We are very rich in natural resources and we have everything to produce many options for the people who love organic beverages. Actually there are many places offering tasting in my city. But I do believe that the spirit of Mezcal is not only luxurious. The point is to share with you our cultural heritage. I choose very well the brands that I work with. And I am pretty sure that after this you will note the differences and mysteries of many agaves. Salud!!!

I used to work for several years as Export Manager of the company Sabores Intensos. 100% Oaxacan company focused on the production of Mezcal; distillate of agave with denomination of origin. I have participated in several international fairs such as Vinexpo in Bordeaux France, IMBIBE in London, Expo Alimentaria Barcelona and Fancy Food in New York in 2014. among others, always offering Mezcal and Mexican drinks. I was born In Oaxaca and Mezcal is part of my life. I am happy to share this experience.

We had an enjoyable and educational tasting session with Eli, who shared engaging stories and insights into the world of mezcal. Very helpful for identifying our favorite types and understanding the distinctions between plants, processes, etc. Also the courtyard setting was lovely and tranquil, and we appreciated the accompanying water and snacks!

Francisco was unable to meet for very good reasons, but he had been training Eli, who walked us through the tasting process. Eli clearly showed that he had learned a lot from Francisco, even though he said he'd only been trying good mezcal for a few months. Overall got to taste a great overview of mezcal with a wide range of agaves, and felt very welcomed. Would be a particularly great intro for anyone new to mezcal.

Francisco could not do the tasting experience as he had a personal tragedy that happened to him that day. But his student, Eli, did the experience that evening and I can say he was excellent. I learnt a lot about Mezcal. We tased almost 5 or 6 types of Mezcal. And he gave us ample time to really feel and sense the subtle differences in taste of each one of them, pointing out the differences in each of them. And also sharing personal stories. I loved the experience. I felt I was experiencing a very unique and authentic part of the Mexican culture and I left with a new found appreciation and respect for the Mezcal culture / tradition of Mexico.
