What you'll do
Archaeoastronomy expert Carolyn leads a guided walking tour, through the wonderful rich ancient landscape of Penwith, Cornwall. We will visit a number of ancient sites which includes stone circles, barrows, menhirs to name a few. Carolyn will take the time to describe how the ancient communities lived in this part of Cornwall and talk about how the monuments left by these people fit into this history. She will also talk about how these people related some of these monuments to the night sky.
Lasting for 2.5 hours there is a real opportunity for people to immerse themselves into this fantastic natural landscape while escaping the crowds. The walk takes a circular route, which is about two miles in length and follows ancient trails through the landscape. There are some gentle slopes involved and the path can be uneven. It also can get muddy especially in the winter months. I also run Ancient Cornwall a Bronze Age a walk in another area of West Cornwall which is slightly longer 3 miles. https://www.airbnb.co.uk/experiences/861929 Thanks for looking :)
Other things to note
This is an off road walk apart from 20metres at the start. The tracks can be uneven and slippy, sturdy shoes are requested. The walk is about 2 miles in length but I can be flexible for all abilities.

Where you'll be
Penwith moors is a rich historic landscape, Carolyn is an expert guide who will show you many places which are off the beaten track, these include wonderful Neolithic and Bronze Age sites. The landscape is rugged but along the way there are fantastic views of the coastline and with the right weather the Isles of Scilly can be seen.

We really enjoyed this hike! Carolyn is incredibly knowledgeable about the topic and shared lots of interesting facts about the history of Cornwall and the Bronze Age in the region. Unfortunately, the hike was a bit short considering the price. We were expecting a 2.5 hour hike but it was more like 1 hour and 45 minutes. We enjoyed it so much we would have liked to learn more and visit more sites!

Four of us (plus the dog) joined Carolyn's walk over the moor this week. We really enjoyed her added context, expertise and insight that brought the ancient and mysterious sites to life.
The walk was fairly flat and not too challenging, and Carolyn was very patient if we were lagging behind.
A really enjoyable experience to enrich our visit to this special part of Cornwall, treading in the footsteps of our ancient ancestors.

The reason we went for this experience was to get the background knowledge and stories behind the history, that you simply don't get simply by finding them yourself (which would have been a challenge anyway). Carolyn provided that information and much more and left us all more enlightened and knowledgeable about not only what we saw, but the history of the entire area.
If like us you're curious about the history of the area and the standing stones, barrows or mines, even if the weather is blowing a gale like it was for us, Carolyn experience is just what you need!
She was also kind enough to be flexible, not only to add a date in that worked for us in the first place, but then also offer to move it to the following day when the weather was going to be apocalyptic! Luckily, we could change our plans as well as we were all looking forward to the walk.

Carolyn was a great guide. She had a deep understanding of her subject and was able to bring alive the culture of those who lived in the area many centuries ago and how they influenced the landscape. I would recommend this walk to those who want to delve deeper into what makes the Cornish landscape so magical.
