What you'll do

Handmade brooms are so cool to look at, but they alaso sweep so much better. We have had our broom for 15 years and is barely shows wear. Plus it is really fun to use :)

This is a two half day class on making shaker stye brooms. You will pick from a prepped broom stick and learn how to weave and attach the broom corn to the handle. One the second day, you will stitch the broom to finish it off.

You will leave the class with a finished broom and the knowledge to make more for gifts.
Other things to note
Almost everything is provided, but feel free to let us know about any food preferences. You will be working outside and it can be chilly, please wear clothing that can get wet and dirty, at least for the first day.

My husband and I own Corn Creek Fiber, a fiber arts business, for the last 8 years. At fiber art shows, we are asked to teach and demo different skills. For instance, I have taught dyeing classes, felt slipper classes, yarn spinning, felting soap, felting scarves, and the technique of lock spinning. My husband teaches fiber processing - shearing, skirting, washing, carding - all the things that lead to fiber prep for use and broommaking. Together we have won multiple state and national awards for our art.
