What you'll do

We'll ride our bicycles along the Atlantic Coast from Afurada. On our way, we will get familiar with the neighbourhood, discover beautiful beaches and surf spots. When we arrive to the authentic Senhor da Pedra (Lord of the Rock) the chapel on the border of the sea and sand, we visit inside and unfold the legend of the place. After a relaxation we make a refreshing step into the ocean, so we deserve our souvenir surprise. Then we'll turn our bikes on the road again.
On the way back, we are going to observate the flora and fauna of the natural reserve estuary and finish our journey in Afurada, the local fisherman village community, where we'll taste local grill food specialties by João and experience this unique ambient with the old habits of the residents.
Other things to note
This is an outdoor leisure activity next to the Atlantic Coast. Sometimes the weather conditions can change faster, than we ride our bikes. Sun, wind, rain protection suggested according to forecast.

Where you'll be

Our route is a 16 km long unique scenic bicycle road along the Atlantic coast. Its flat and easy to ride even for beginners. Our destination is Senhor da Pedra, a chapel built on the border of the sand and ocean. We can visit inside, it used to be open during our time schedule. Its a hidden treasure of the region, the beach part was voted the 10th most beautiful in Europe. Afurada, the local fisherman community is a unique authentic experience.

Great experience. The bicycle ride was along a gorgeous section of the Atlantic. My host was wonderful and I learned more about the culture, which I enjoyed. We stoped at major sites and had a wonderful lunch and another one for desserts. Would highly recommend. Great exercise.

Szabi has been a very good guide. Our adventure started at the harbour, where he was waiting for us with his bikes. I really appreciated the fact that the bikes were confortable and smooth to drive. We had a beautiful trip along the coast. The sun was shining and the road was perfect. We rode along a bicycle path that was absolutely suitable for every kind of age and fitness level. Szabi was always checking for us to be okay until we reached a beautiful chapel built on a rock just on the seashore. He offered us a nice healthy drink made with hot water and lemon, and after a long chat together, we came back. We had the chance to visit a nice town with its colourful narrow roads, where everybody was grilling fish outside of little restaurants. Here, we had a nice lunch with fresh salad, grilled sardines, deserts, good wines and liquor. We laughed a lot together and Szabi was so nice to suggest very cheap way to come back to Porto City centre by boat and bus. Finally, our trip ended after the expected time. This made us feel very confortable since we didn't feel like we had a fixed time to respect. We couldn't have something better than this!

Awesome and nice tour! Very easy going. We decided spontainiously for this tour. Szabi is an interesting person who shares his knowledge about the area. Don’t think, we would have got to know the lovely beaches and also Senhor da Pedra (known for the 10th most beautiful beach out of 280 remarkable beaches in Europe!!!) Very unique!!!

I had a great time on this tour! Szabi not only took extra care to ensure my safety, but took the time to really help me to understand the area we were touring. We stopped by some great food places before departing at an awesome beach. Highly recommended!

I had a great time on this tour. I regularly take bike tours whenever I travel but this one was different. The scenery , fresh ocean air, amazing bike path, and hanging out at the cafe and restaurant were the focus I feel, not historical sites and whatnot. It was fun, leisurely, and relaxing....all in all a great day that reminded me of the Croatian concept of Fjaka. Szabi was great...fun and interesting to talk to and ride with and he accommodated my dislike of fish at the delicious local restaurant. I most likely would not have become aware of the great beaches and bike path without this tour...the guidebooks I referenced did not mention this area, just Matosinhos.

This was a very pleasant Sunday morning activity, seeing an area you wouldn’t easily see as a tourist. The beach is stunning, the bike path was smooth and an easy ride and lots of colourful things were going on at either end of the bike path. The food was tasty and local. This was smoothly organised and had interesting conversations with Szabi and Juliana about Porto and more.. Thanks!
