Hi I’m Emi.
All of us (Emi,Chigusa,Miki,Nanako) have been involved Japanese calligraphy since we were small.(more than 20-30 years)
After graduating from high schools or universities, we opened our own calligraphy schools, or became calligraphy teacher in high schools.

Besides, we have been interviewed by various media and published books on the specialized topic. Considering also our awards in different contests, we are very much confident in our experience and qualifications.

We are thrilled to be able to spread calligraphy as a traditional Japanese culture to the world.
We are looking forward to seeing you!

Where you'll be

Sugamo is located in the center of Tokyo.
There are 2 temples and a shopping street (called Jizo-dori).
Jizo-dori is known as "Harajuku for the older generation".
It has almost 200 shops selling anything from traditional Japanese snacks such as sembei and mochi, to clothing and fine Japanese green teas. Recommended if you’re interested in a more laid back and "local" Tokyo experience, not overcrowded with tourists.

Communication was great leading up to the event- they were very responsive when we booked and they reached out the day before to ask if we had any questions. The class was engaging and fun. We learned about the history of calligraphy in Japan and got to mix our ink, practice our strokes and finally, choose the word we wanted to make to go on a t shirt to take with us. Kai was very personable and Chigusa is very accomplished in the craft of teaching calligraphy. It is in a very non- touristy neighborhood so we got to see lots of local life. We had a great experience! Thank you!

Everyone here was amazing. Everyone was very friendly and we all enjoyed conversing with one another. Apart from calligraphy, we talked about our lives and local attractions and restaurants. They seemed very knowledgeable in the art of calligraphy and were able to explain the basics to us very efficiently. Overall an amazing experience and definitely worth doing if you’re in Tokyo!

The people were wonderful and so kind! We learned a about calligraphy then practiced a kanji letter that had all the strokes. There was no pressure but only encouragement to do our best. We then got to pick whatever we wanted to write for our shirt design and they turned out amazing! I would 100% recommend this experience specifically with Emi’s group.

Emi, Hiro & the rest of the team were welcoming and very understanding. I had to cancel last minute because my flight got delayed and they allowed me to reschedule for the next day. They were patient with everyone and explain to us the whole process step by step. I recommend this activity if you aren in Tokyo.

Molt i molt recomanable!!!!
