What you'll do

Breathe fresh mountain air and feel the energy of Colombian horses on this one-of-a-kind day.

We’ll meet in Bogotá and go to a mountain home in El Imperio to enjoy the beautiful landscape, traditional food, and amazing views. We’ll ride horseback along the Andes and take in the gorgeous scenery, native forests, and great sight of Lake El Sisga.

For lunch, we’ll eat authentic dishes cooked in a wood stove and then play a game of Tejo before we head back to Bogotá. Along the way, you can take it easy and commune with nature as you bond with your Colombian steed.
Other things to note
This activity takes a whole day, and you'll return to Bogotá around 7:40 pm. It is a must if you really want to experience Colombia's soul.

This was a much bigger and better trip than I had anticipated. The ranch has farm animals and we fed corn to chickens and milk to cows. We played a few rounds of tejo which is a traditional Colombian game. The afternoon meal was fantastic and was comprised of Colombian dishes. We even sampled some fruits that are native to the Andes Mountains. The horseback riding was a lot of fun. With the other ranchhands we rode for a couple of hours around the property and saw the landscape and the great views of the valleys. From a long distance you can see Bogotá. The trip was a long day of events and spending time on Daniel's ranch and in the ranchhouse. This is a memorable trip that you won't forget!

Do this FIRST. If you’re in Bogota, make this the first thing on your to-do list. It is a once in a lifetime experience and you will not be disappointed, especially if you have children. I could write for an hour about the experience at Daniel’s ranch but I don’t want to give away all the fun surprises! Daniel and his family are the most hospitable people, treated us like family. The animals were well cared for and obviously loved; they were the perfect demeanor for our children. The ranch is full of animals and, lucky for us, baby animals when we were there. We saw a 7 day old foal, calfs, chicks, and the most adorable puppy. Our 6 & 7 year olds rode their own horses with absolutely no concerns. The meals were delicious and the ranch home was cozy. Daniel’s knowledge of Colombia, animals, coffee, the WORLD is quite impressive. If you do this first you will have a better understanding of Colombia and where to go/what not to miss while you’re here. The only thing, and I suspect you will encounter the same, is that now our children want to buy a ranch and are begging us for horses! There’s a reason why this experience has only 5 star ratings. Do this FIRST!

I cannot speak more highly of this experience. Myself, my husband and my two children had one of the best days of our lives together. We felt like we were part of the family at the ranch. There were so many activities. We are exhausted by the time we came home. The horses were so gentle. There was so many animals and so many stunning views in all directions. But mostly the Santiago family are such a joy to be around.I have a few words to express how truly magical the day was. The food was fantastic. I loved the afternoon coffee. And there were plenty of surprises throughout the day. We did not bring sunscreen, I would suggest packing that.

Awesome experience! Beautiful landscape, very nice lovely horses, super cute puppies, chickens, baby cows feeding, pretty donkey Shakira and many many hummingbirds! Santiago showed us many beautiful places, his lovely mom cooked tasty breakfast and lunch for us. We fried our stakes and vegan steaks. We had exotic fruits and excellent coffee. And played a traditional Colombian game tejo. Definitely it is worth the money and time. And even more! Great memories!
