What you'll do

2019 mark the 75th anniversary of the four Battles of Montecassino and the Battle for Rome and it will be a great occasion to celebrate peace, liberty and reconciliation. I will pick you up at the train station of Cassino and I will start to show you shortly the new town on Cassino, totally rebuilt after the war. We will stop in the town, where the German Headquarter was, and then we will stop again at Castle Hill ( where the Kiwis and the Gurkas tried to attack the Abbey) and at the Belvedere point, where I will show you the Liri valley where the battles took place. We are going to visit the Abbey of Monte Cassino on an WW2 point of view, and then we will pay a visit to the Commonwealth memorial and Cemetery.

Anna

I'm Anna, an Italian licensed tour guide (certified by the Italian National Tourist Board) with a PhD in WWII History at the Humboldt University of Berlin in Germany. When I was I child I was surprised to find pieces of bombs in my garden, so I started studing the Second World War and I discovered that I lived in the middle of the American Battlefields of Cassino. I read thousand books about the war, I followed the last Veterans in the places they remembered, and I heard their personal experiences. I will be happy to share with you the most important events of the Four Battles on Cassino, but also the personal Veterans' stories, remembering that memory is important for our future! Where you'll be

We will visit together places that people don't know to be so important, for example I will show you where the Captain Foltin moved the German headquarter and where the Indians tried to climb the hill to join the Abbey. These are places the Veterans showed me when they came back to visit the places in which they fought. And I will show you a lot of photos about the bombing of the Abbey and of the town, some of them are unknown.
