What you'll do
After meeting and greeting each other, there will be a basic water skills and aptitude orientation where I will review the map and route we will be paddling. Moving to the kayaks I will demonstrate proper kayak , PFD and paddle use and skill. We will begin paddling the bay in the shallows to adjust to the watercraft. We will embark on an aquatic tour of the natural area to observe the birds, animals and fish that happen to show themselves. This will be an opportunity to learn about the colorful history of the island and its natives. Just before sunset we will retire to a remote area or island to enjoy the setting of the sun, all along taking advantage of photo opportunities. After a solemn, moonlit paddle back to the launch the tour will conclude.
I love the ocean, blame it on Cousteau. So much so I became a professional merchant sailor, navigator and Park Ranger at an island State Park. I live, surf, fish, sail, scuba and kayak on or beneath the waves whenever I can. I started guiding kayak tours as an avenue for discovery to help co-create a safe and enjoyable adventure for those who wish for a deeper connection to the aquatic world . Galveston Island is a jewel and I enjoy sharing her secrets with all who can appreciate the natural beauty and bounty of a barrier island. And the sunsets, may just take your breath away...
