What you'll do

We will dive straight into the magical experience of making a simple cloth doll, using beautifully soft wool fleece stuffing and natural cotton fibres and threads. I will make a doll's head with you so you can see first hand, step by step, how it's done. This is a 'hands on' experience teaching you basic sewing skills and stitches. We will have a morning/afternoon tea break after which you have the opportunity to choose from different body colours and hats.
By the end of the workshop you will have your own adorable baby doll to take home, 'made by you' and you can choose to gift it to a lucky little person in your life or maybe keep it for yourself. I will gift my doll (made on the day) to a baby/child in need. This is my small way of giving back to our community.
Other things to note
Bringing guests under 18yrs is fine with me, however it's your responsibility to make sure the activities they participate in are age-appropriate.
We have a friendly French bulldog living outside.

I'm a retired early childhood teacher with 20 years experience. My own daughter went to a Steiner school when I first attended a workshop and learned this simple yet effective technique. My creative doll making journey has evolved since and I am passionate about the theory behind the Waldorf inspired doll. Very simply it's hand made using safe natural materials and the adorable facial appearance is intentionally simple in order to allow the child playing with it to further develop their imagination. Creating a doll is a truly magical experience and a priceless gift I want to share with others.

It was an awesome experience. I don't have any sewing skill but Nicole has demonstrated very clear! I made my first adorable doll by myself! Pretty amazing!

I booked a doll-making session with Nicole as a gift for my mum, who has wanted to make cloth dolls for a long time. She adores the doll she made - almost from scratch - and said Nicole was very nice.

Making this doll with Nicole was such a lovely experience. It took place in her home, which is just beautiful, and very close to a wonderful park and dam. Nicole was patient and made sure we made the doll on our own by following her verbal steps while she demonstrated on her own. She even had fabric options to allow us to customize for our son. We would highly recommend this doll making class for anyone visiting Sydney and wanting individual time with an Aussie and having a beautiful handmade doll to go home with.

I didn’t know what to expect when I attended Nicole’s doll making workshop. I was a bit apprehensive as it is not something I thought I’d do... however, half way through the class, I found myself totally absorbed and in awe at what and how I was creating this little doll. Nicole had everything prepared and showed us first hand, step by step, what to do and behold baby dolls of all shapes and sizes were born. They make a lovely gift to give to a newborn or child ..however most of us decided by the end, they were too adorable to part with. There was a real buzz of excitement and sense of achievement when we all left after the 21/2 hour class...which included a lovely morning tea with homemade brownies. Highly recommend.
