What you'll do

Meet your guide under Charles de Gaulle`s Statue near the "Palm Tree” on Rondo de Gaulle to begin your two hour walking tour.
First, stroll over a section of the Warsaw Escarpment, along which the city has evolved over the centuries.
We’ll walk through an area, where the Nazis resided during German occupation. These modernist buildings were designed by some of Poland’s most outstanding architects of the 1930s. On their facades you will see bullet holes from the Second World War.
Not far is a small colony of local activism supporting urban gardens, beehives and all kinds of workshops. We’ll also walk through one of the city’s most elegant and historical 19th century parks.
The tour continues with a visit a significant communist era housing estate which represents Socialist Realism style. Then we`ll see step back in time again to see a beautiful university complex from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Not far you will see a building where Roman Polanski filmed his famous Pianist movie.
The tour will come to its close at a cozy food venue with small bars, cafes, and restaurants, where perhaps you will like to stay after the tour. You are welcome to ask me any questions during the tour or for other recommendations or assistance with your stay in Warsaw.

My name is Łukasz Godlewski, and I am a licensed guide in Warsaw. I’m a Varsovian of several generations. My great-grandparents were married on Grzybowski Square in the All Saints Church, my great grandfather was a photographer on Chmielna Street, and after the war his studio was in a converted tramcar which is now Dmowskiego Roundabout and the center of Warsaw.

I studied Cross Culture Psychology. I completed my course to become a Warsaw City Guide at PTTK, the oldest Polish guiding organization which has been training guides dating back to 1946. I love history, music and photography :-)

I really enjoyed Lucasz explanations and knowledge of history and architecture. This is definitely not something I would have seen on my own. He took us through some local gardens and various sections of the center as described in the overview. He was personable, patient and charming. I recommend this walk and would suggest comfortable shoes.

Lukasz was amazing. He knows everything there is to know about the city. He was very interactive in the tour and would explain anything you asked. He would even answer question that did not pertain to the tour. Besides showing us the historical side of the city he would also show us amazing places to eat and give recommendations. He would explain all the historical sites and give a nice background story on each section. Definitely worth doing. Also, he was a very cool guide and I would definitely come back for another tour with him.
