What you'll do

It’s all about Social Distancing right now. A Kayaking tour for just 2 people is a great way to get out for a while and breath fresh air.

Join us for a 2hr paddle on the Round out Creek and weather permitting we will explore the Hudson River. All paddling equipment is included. (14ft Sea kayak, paddle and life jacket) and this gear will be sanitized to keep us all safe.

You can expect to see Osprey, Heron and many more waterfowl along the way. Including the majestic Bald Eagle. This paddle is a quiet , relaxing experience and is a great way to wind down after a busy day.

As your guide, I would be very happy to share my kayaking knowledge along the way, to make you paddling experience even more enjoyable...

Looking forward to kayaking with you.
Cheers Gunter
Other things to note

Günter has a knack for the water, that‘s for sure! He made us feel really welcome and showed us the ropes patiently until we even felt comfortable paddling in front of him! It was a wonderful experience and I want to come back for more kayaking (and maybe sailing?) on the Hudson River. Thank you, Günter!

We spent a perfect afternoon on the Hudson with Günter, who is very knowledgeable about kayaking and the Kingston Waterfront and Rondout Creek. His clear instructions and expert guidance made us not only feel safe during our trip but truly immersed us into the paddling way of life and definitely made us want to come back for more!

Both my husband and I were completely new to kayaking. At the launch site, I was intimidated for maybe a split second, but Gunter’s clear instruction and calming presence made the feeling disappear immediately. We spend the next two hours learning about the history of the Hudson and the ecological challenges it's facing... all the while confidently and peacfully navigating about the river, enjoying the setting sun. I highly, highly recommend if you're visiting the area that you include this trip on your itinerary!! I see more kayaking in our future thanks to this experience.

We had a wonderful time during this kayak tour with Gunter. My husband and I had only been kayaking one another time so Gunter's expertise helped us feel more confident. He was patient and gave feedback and tips to make the experience even better. When we were out on the open waters of the Hudson, a rain storm came in and Gunter was able to help us navigate back to calm waters quickly and without us feeling alarmed. He even had a sense of humor when I got stuck in some reeds and helped me get back out. Though we weren't able to go out on the Hudson because of the rain, we were still able to see beautiful scenery and wildlife. Gunter was an amazing host and we would definitely do this experience again!

Our initial date was rained out, but we were able to reschedule for the following day, on which the weather cooperated, and we were out on the Rondout Creek and Hudson River for the full two hours. Robin and Clay were wonderful instructors and guides, pointing out the interesting docked boats and barges, some of which were inhabited, and one of which seemed almost haunted; as well as several interesting water fowl: heron, osprey and Cormorants mainly. There was even a brief turf battle between a bald eagle and a few of the osprey. The water was calm and easy to move through on the creek, while the river was choppy and a more of a challenge to navigate. We learned that the Hudson was still subject to the tides, even this far upriver, and even took advantage of this tidal action to spirit us back to the launch point. At one point, we crossed paths with a sailboat instruction class, headed by Gunter, who was also associated with our kayaking classes. All in all, a wonderful way to end a summer afternoon in August, Robin and Clay were both not only professional and competent, but very nice, we had a running conversation with them as we paddled to and fro. Clay even took photos, which just arrived on a flickr site, so we were able to get some photos after all, even after leaving our phones/cameras in the car for fear of them getting wet. Recommend.

Gunter was very knowledgeable and friendly. We had a great time checking out the Kingston area from the creek. We also paddled into the Hudson River for some great views and where we could swim! Always felt safe and very much enjoyed the experience. Definitely recommend.
