What you'll do

Kashiwara city, where I guide you, is about 20 minutes away by train from the center of Osaka, but it's scenery is completely different from the center of Osaka. There are vineyards in the foot of the mountain, and also wineries. There are also traditional wooden houses and ancient tombs that are full of curiosity. At the beginning, I will ask you your interests so I will take you the best places suitable for you. Let's go to the renovated old house and so on. It must be a special experience that you can only do here. After town walk, let's have lunch together at my recommended restaurant if you like.
Other things to note
Please come here with suitable clothes for walking and take care about heatstroke in summer.

I'm Yuya. I've studied geography at university. I'm seeing cities from various viewpoints such as topographical, cultural and historical ones. I've explored towns with old maps for five years. It has already been held as an event more than 50 times. I won't only take you some touristy spots but also talk about the local stories like why some old houses are there. Also, since I have plenty of friends, I can guide you about places and experiences that you can not normally visit.

Where you'll be

Where you'll be is one of the oldest historical area in Japan. People have lived for more than 1,500 years, and some old houses remain. The guest house, which is a meeting place, also was renovated a house over 80 years old. You can see Japanese traditional interiors like tatami and doors. In addition, I will take you some hidden historical sites and various traditional craft shops.

Great experience to learn about the history of the area. Yuya's use of new and old maps was really easy to follow and helps you imagine how the old town might have been. Yuya is clearly very passionate about the area and its history, and will introduce you to everyone he knows. Yuya spoke the best English we came across in our time in Japan.

Yuya is such a wealth of knowledge in the geography of Osaka and it was wonderful to participate in his passion. I love his mission for having locals appreciate their roots and small town vibe. This is a great experience for a nice walk (especially during the grape season). Thanks for accommodating us when we arrived late and sharing your passion with us!

Did the walk with my elderly parents. Yuya specially slowed down the pace to accommodate my parents. It was a great experience to learn about the area and its changes throughout the last couple of decades. Very tranquil location too.

Don’t hesitate : this walk is really wonderful ! I did it on my second day to Osaka (and Japan), and it gives you a fascinating « off the beaten path » experience of the country. The meeting point is really easy and fast to reach from Osaka’s center. I discovered the interesting local history and geography, saw a wonderful sunset, eat (very) good food, meet the most charming local people. Yuya took the time to kindly answer to all of my questions, with lots of knowledge and a good sense of humor.

Yuya brings a refreshing take on a walking tour, combining his love for geography with passion for his local Kashiwara community. By incorporating the historical maps of the region, he tours you through the changing land use and development of the town, highlighting fascinating facts, sights and history. It is a reasonably solid walk, so be sure to wear appropriate footwear.
