What you'll do

EXPERIENCE THE MAGICAL, WINTRY LANDSCAPE OF THE ARCTIC

Nights will be spent waiting for the Northern Lights to paint the starry sky with spectacular dancing color.

Join a small group of likeminded people with a local guide. You'll start and end your stay at Hotel Savoy in Luleå. In between you’ll stay in a shared guesthouse with a sauna, and sample local cuisine around a campfire. You’ll hop on a sled pulled by a team of huskies and photograph reindeer and moose in the snowy wilds. Spend two nights at a tented camp far into the wild. Try Sámi specialities like Arctic Char, Gáhkku and Souvas while you learn more about the Sámi culture. Take the opportunity to get in more physical activity by cross-country skiing and snowshoeing on a frozen lake!

WE HAVE ADAPTED THIS TRIP TO MINIMIZE THE RISK FOR CORONA
We have limited the group size to max 7 guests in each group. We are doing all we can to adapt our activities and accommodations to be able to welcome all guests. Jokkmokk with its wild surroundings and sparse population is perhaps the ideal place to distance ourselves from other people for some days. It is easy to stay away from people here. We have taken precautions to make sure that all meals will be prepared and handled with great care. And we will be extra cautious with hygiene at the guesthouse and when we stay at the tented camp.

Born and raised in Blueberryland by a campfire among moose and pine cones. I am a soft-adventure-nature-lover. I share my days with my two little blonde fairies. We love to walk on skis, to canoe across silent lakes and to climb trees. We're heating up in saunas and cooling down in Lapland.

I founded my travel company WildSweden in 2003 and it is the only job I've have ever had. I have a handful of amazing guides but I still love to lead tours.

Awards: "Swedish Ecotourism company of the year", "Tourism company of the year in Sweden" and one of our tours was mentioned as one of 50 Tours of a Lifetime by National Geographic Traveler magazine.

If you get the opportunity to book a tour with Wild Sweden do it!!! Our guide was Christian and he was fantastic. Friendly, organised, knowledgeable, local to the area, caring and made everyone feel like they were visiting with an old friend. Such a fabulous trip to an incredibly beautiful part of Sweden. Perfect balance of active adventure, relax time, genuine cultural immersion and the food was all included and superb! I can not say enough to express how much I enjoyed my week in Sapmi. We were blessed with incredible weather, Northern Lights that were sensational, beautiful Sami people, lavvu teepee camping, wildlife, dogs, reindeer, snow, snow and more snow, wintery wonderland forests that were absolutely breathtaking. I have to stop but I could go on and on. Unforgettable !!!!!!!!!!!

it seemed like a whack of money when I booked but there were experiences that I would never have been able to have had it not been for local knowledge. I have many wonderful experiences in my life and I know this one will be tough to top. Maybe one day I will do it again.

A magical time. Super-professional and super-helpful guide through a most extraordinary landscape, both physical and social. We were well looked after (lovely meals, safe and comfortable transport, great humour); and the itinerary balanced activities (dog sledding, cross-country skiing, meeting reindeer, even birdwatching in the snow in an ancient forest) with leisure time to snooze, read, visit the Sámi museum and crafts display - basically, a perfect, perfect time. I have never gone on a guided tour before, but based on this, I’ll do so again. And the Northern Lights obliged, and came out most nights!

My husband and I travel quite often all over the world and I have to say our experience with Wild Sweden went way beyond our expectations. Christian our guide was very friendly, patient and knowledgeable and made sure not to go beyond our physical limitations. All the experiences on the tour were well done and magical from the view at Pite falls, to watching for the northern lights while sitting outside by a fire on a lake, to the dogsled ride, to the dinner and singing in a traditional Sämi tipi and our stay at Sampi Nature. All the hosts at these events were extremely likable and very passionate about what they do with no sense of artifice. If you are looking for a genuine heartfelt experience with beautiful views of nature and animals this is the adventure for you!

As a frequent traveler it’s rare that I would recommend an organized tour. However, this was honestly one of the most magical trips I’ve taken. Every experience was better than the next. Friends told me my photos looked fake the scenery was so beautiful. Each person we were introduced to had amazing stories and passion for Sapmi (Lapland). If you are hesitating ... don’t, just do it. You won’t regret it!

I'm glad I made it!!.. to join the adventure ''glamp under the northern lights'', at first I thought it will be difficult for me to cope with..especially the arctic climate as I'm from Asia. But Marcus and his team are professionals. Instructions and information Marcus provided before the trip took place are sufficient. During the trip, our guide has done a good job taken care of us. Events and itinerary are well planned. Local people we have encountered: Matti, Scina, Anna, Lennart, Kaisa, Kurt, are all enthusiastic and sincere. I do feel the land, the culture, the life..through these people, through the local delicacies, the nature scenery of Lapland is breath taken. The experience is authentic, I'll defiantly come back!

What to bring

CHOOSING THE BEST BAG On most of our winter trips you can travel with a suitcase, duffel, wheeled bag or backpack since you will only need to take your bag from the van to your room/tent and back. We also recommend you to bring a small daypack.

FEET Two layers of socks: Thin liner socks + thick socks, wool or synthetic, not cotton. Plus an extra set of socks in case you get damp feet. Winter boots: Comfortable and warm boots. Choose one or two sizes larger than your normal shoes.
