What you'll do

You don't need to know anything about horses to enjoy & benefit from this amazing work. There is no riding involved. To prepare you for working with the horses, you will learn simple, powerful exercises to tune into yourself & consciously manage your energy levels. You will meet our lovely herd of "Equine Facilitated Learning" (EFL) horses in a quiet & contemplative way before choosing which horse you would like to work with. You will be guided through exercises with the horses, which will be chosen together to suit you & your horse. Exercises can include a "journey", obstacles, boundary awareness & energy work, reflective grooming, gentle leadership, trust building exercises, exercises for improving communication skills. We can do creative work & horse painting for people with an artistic flair, or work with some simple symbols & rituals. This work is very flexible and varied, with something to suit most people! Horses have an amazing talent for slipping the magical into the mundane in a scarcely noticeable way, leaving you subtly yet substantially transformed, more aware & in tune, better grounded. You will have self-help tools, techniques & experiences to take home.

Learn more about Anna

Anna

I've lived & worked with horses for over 15 years, but not in a traditional way. With no formal introduction, I had to learn from the horses themselves what they wanted from me & how to communicate with them. With a background in holistic healthcare, I discovered & trained in "Equine Facilitated Learning", which fits perfectly with how I want to work with horses. In this adventure, horses are my working colleagues, & together we help people embark on a voyage of self discovery, increased awareness & self-mastery. I am also a practicing Medical Herbalist (BSc Hons.) healer & massage therapist.

Where you'll be

In the beautiful Peak District National Park, we are based in a peaceful, secluded family run stables, in the Village of Grindleford. We have 2 paddocks, with woodland behind, a small ménage, yard & cozy tack room with a kettle for refreshments. We have spacious, airy stables with rubber matting, but mostly we will be outside.
