What you'll do

Belgium is known as the home of chocolate, and its chocolate is known world-wide for being delicious! In this class, you & your child can experience making yummy chocolate masterpieces together!
After introducing ourselves, we'll get right down to making chocolate. Having taught many children before, I'll explain clearly & simply the process of tempering chocolate, which is the most important part of making chocolate (and which makes it smooth and beautiful). We'll temper the chocolate together, no doubt with the help of your child!
Your child will then get to create the Belgian favorite, mendiants, a scrumptious chocolate with dried fruit and nuts, then let their creative juices flow by making his/her own chocolate art masterpieces!
I'll provide step-by-step guidance throughout, as well as explain the bean-to-bar chocolate process for all those interested. I'm also happy to answer all sorts of chocolate questions, having had 8 years of experience in the chocolate world!

Don't miss this sweet opportunity to share with your child! You'll of course get to taste everything you make, and if you can resist, also bring some back.
Other things to note
One reservation each is required for the child and accompanying adult.
If you have specific allergens (e.g. dairy, nuts, etc.), please let me know so I can accommodate your needs.

A passionate chocoholic born & raised in New York, I left my finance career & pursued my chocolate dreams, apprenticing with one of the top chocolatiers in France. 8 years since, I've worked with the best artisans in the UK & Belgium, met our cocoa farmers, seen bean-to-bar production first-hand, and have gained a deep, well-rounded understanding of chocolate.
I'm happy to share my love and know-how of chocolate-making with you and your kids in these deliciously fun workshops!

This was an awesome experience! We unexpectedly had a private class and it was amazing. My son was a little under the weather but Cathy still made him feel comfortable and still made it fun for him even though he was not feeling well. My son talks about the experience every day and keeps asking when can we go back to make more chocolates. Hopefully, one day we will be back and not to mention the chocolates we made were so smooth and delectable.

Cathy was great with the kids, she was very forthcoming, and great at explaining and keeping the kids engaged, and giving them loads of compliments of how well they were doing, who doesnt like compliments. We enjoyed it lots, and learned alot about the cacao bean and butter. The kids got to design their own choco figures and decorate. And they are still talking about making choco and making choco when we come home...so all in all...a huge 100% thumbs up

Cathy is a great host, friendly and engaging, with warmth and real passion for her subject. The setting, at the back of a very smart chocolatier in the beautiful old centre of Brussels couldn’t be bettered. My five-year-old and I didn’t learn vast amounts about how chocolate is actually made, but we had a fantastic time melting it down and making yummy shapes with it. Cathy gave the children plenty of free rein, but was always on hand to ensure no one messed up. Very enjoyable for all.

This was a really fun experience to do as a family! Cathy was very welcoming, knowledgeable and passionate about making chocolate. Our 6-year-old son had a blast tempering the chocolate and then making chocolate shapes and drawings to eat - and we enjoyed it as well!
