What you'll do

This activity begins with an encounter with the best of the Mezcal culture in a comfortable space focused on the culture of mezcal.

We will taste 3 different mezcal (or other craft distillates) while we talk and learn a little about their method of mezcal production and about different agaves.

Each mezcal is made by different producers, mezcal cooperatives or small families that produce Oaxaca. In this experience, the most important thing is the desire to know the diversity of flavors, fragrances and textures.

In this experience we want to be that friend who awaits you when you arrive in our city, we know that when we arrive at a new place we are interested in knowing those recommendations of where to go, what to eat, where to go to the best parties, museums and galleries more important.

In summary there will be a tasting of Organic Mezcales, a talk with mezcal stories, a recommendation of mezcalerias and some surprises of welcome to our city.

Where you'll be

We will be in a comfortable space to decide in our bar space or in our patio with Oaxacan agaves and endemic plants of the region, between aromatic plants and grapefruit, regardless of the chosen place they will have access to all spaces.

We are located six blocks from the zócalo or four blocks from the church of Santo Domingo de Guzman, in the historical street of Murguía which is full of interesting proposals for mezcal, from kitchens or specialized stores to the mezcal.

This is undoubtedly one of the top AirBnB experiences we've ever done. We went to an on-site mezcal tour the previous day, but it felt so rushed that we decided to do this tasting with Juan. So glad we did - we learned about 20x as much! From start to finish, I was impressed by the level of effort and special touch Juan puts into this mezcal tasting. His passion shows through the entire experience; he has a deep love for mezcal and is excited to share it with others. He gracefully entertained my extraneous questions and was patient in helping me practice my Spanish. The setting was cozy and perfect - the terrace of Juan's own mezcalería, which features different mezcal plants to demonstrate the artisanal process. We ended the night with a new love for mezcal, and even a jicarita (traditional mezcal drinking implement) each - but ultimately, we left with new friends. Thank you, Juan, for this wonderful memory! We will be back to visit on our next trip to Oaxaca.

Juan Carlos is extremely knowledgeable and personal. The experience was excellent. I attended with my girlfriend and JC shared 3 different mezcal's and some snacks with us. He explained everything in detail and even showed us various agave plants. He explained how to taste mezcal properly and went into a lot of depth. I'd recommend this to anyone.

Our mezcal tasting was one of a kind ! I had done this tasting last year and loved it so much that I did it again with my sister. Unfortunately Juan Carlos was sick, so his partner, Edgar had taken over the tasting. Edgar was passionate and knowledgeable and very friendly ! He did an amazing job. I highly recommend this tasting !
