What you'll do

We will go on a real jungle hike to Maraithu Waterfalls which is located about 40 minutes from KL Sentral. This trail has 4 separate waterfalls: A) a large tall fall with wide pool, B) a deep gorge curtain waterfall, C) set of small cascade waterfalls, D) medium cascade waterfall. All these falls are part of the clear Sungai Rengau river which originates in the Titiwangsa mountain range. Please browse the pictures to get an idea of each waterfall. The first 3 waterfalls are easy to get to but keep in mind this is a genuine jungle so it is not a simple walk. The path to the optional 4th waterfall is more challenging, it requires stream scrambling, sometimes a tiny bit of crawling if there's a lot of fallen bamboo.
If we are lucky, we sometimes see wild boar, river terrapin, civet cats, macaques, barking deer, otters and giant squirrel. If we are really lucky, then the family of Siamang gibbons.
At some points of the year, typically July/August, some of the grand old fruit trees, especially 80 year old durian trees may be fruiting and that'll enable us to also enjoy the taste of the jungle.
I will customize the hike to fit the weather as well as the group's level of fitness and comfort level with the terrain. After the hike, if you'd like to have lunch together, I can recommend some authentic vegetarian Tamil places. I hope we can create a lasting and great memory together.
Other things to note
Suitable hiking shoes, long socks to reduce chances of leech bites, closed toes with good grip. Tucked long sleeves and long trousers. I recommend soccer socks. You'll need a backpack to carry your water for about 2 hours of hiking. Change of clothing kept in car for return.

I have over 20 years experience taking guests to mountain summits, historical points in jungles, and especially to waterfalls. I grew up in the jungles of Northern Perak and now live in the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur. I love to guide and teach others about the plants and animals of these beautiful trails, especially during fruit season when the trails are buzzing with activity. These waterfalls and summit trails are Malaysia's true natural treasures that I wish everyone in the world gets a chance to experience. I hope to help you have a great experience.

Where you'll be

Maraithu Falls is about 40 minutes from KL Sentral and is located in the Gombak-Selayang Forest Reserve. Luckily, this forest reserve is still pristine. It is a real jungle so there are leeches, insects. We will hike from the trailhead through laterite trails surrounded by genuine rainforest up to the cascades and waterfall and then return using the same trail to the trailhead. Once we're cleaned up, we can head back to KL Sentral.

Amazing experience! We were impressed by wild jungle. Jaya's trip to waterfalls was full of adventures. Sometimes we even crawled in the water to get to our destination! Organizer is very experienced and know everything about jungle. He explained everything we could ask. I would highly recommend this experience to everyone who is planning to visit Malaysia. Thank you for unforgettable day!

The waterfalls was nice and I got many great pictures. Jaya knew a lot about plants and wild animals. I enjoyed the trip a lot. Jaya listened me a lot about what I prefer to do and what I liked to see.

This experience was an amazing Malaysian jungle adventure. Jaya was knowledgeable about the plants and animals in the area and would frequently use opportunities to teach the group about our surroundings. Part of the time you hike on tight jungle paths, part of the time you hike in the creek. It felt very adventurous!

Best hike ever ! Despite getting leeches bites and missing my spectacle, I'm glad we hiked with Mr Jaya. A knowledgeable and professional host that is passionate about hiking , he took great care of us so me and my partner was able to step out of our comfort zone to finish our first hike. Tip: it really does help to be physically and mentally prepared that this hike is no walk in the park. However its still manageable for first timers like us :)

Very awesome experience, the touch with the jungle with cravling under fallen bamboos and water, the waterfalls were also amazing. I am really recommending it.
