About your host

A third-generation native Charlestonian, and a veteran of the South Carolina National Guard and the US Air Force Reserve, I'm deeply ingrained in the land of this city and state. Yet it took over 20 years of working in real estate for me to come back to my roots, so to speak, and realize that farm life is the best life. Now I spend my days caring for and milking my goats and bringing fresh goat…

What we’ll do

After a short, beautiful drive from downtown Charleston, you'll arrive on the dirt road of the farm, and you'll immediately get a feel for the quiet, peaceful John's Island life, which was and still is a farming community at heart. We'll get to know each other a bit, and then I'll take you on a tour, showing you the dairy itself -- where and how the goats get milked, and how that milk becomes…

What else you should know

Come ready to get your shoes a little dirty, and to spend quality time with adorable farm animals. In the summer months, Charleston gets very hot and humid, so dress accordingly and wear sunscreen.

Where you'll be

A working dairy farm bordering a small creek, with wide green pastures and magnolia trees, and of course a bunch of goats! It feels worlds away from downtown Charleston, yet is so close, and offers a window into the agricultural history of Charleston, as well as the present, where local farmers work hard to bring exceptional products to the restaurants of this culinary hot spot.
