What you'll do

We will meet at the location of the farm, do a meet and greet of all guests, and walk the tropical fruit farm. It is an interactive tour where guests can share their knowledge about different plants they grow at home and your host, Maddy, will share about those that are grown on site. We will pick fresh tropical fruits that are in season and conclude the tour with a fresh fruit tasting alongside cacao and chocolate tasting. You will learn all about the variety of terroirs that Big Island has and how cacao, coffee and wine are similar.
Other things to note
If you have sensitivities to foods, animals or other special needs, please alert me ahead of time so I can make special arrangements for you. There are two gentle and playful dogs at the farm. Please let me know ahead of time of concerns. Dogs are safe and harmless.

My wife and I had a wonderful time on Maddy's tour. Not only did we learn about cacao and the chocolate-making process, we also learned about a bunch of other edible and useful flora on the permaculture farm. It was a really engaging way to learn as we touched, smelled, and tasted our way through the farm and every step of the chocolate-making process - literally from freshly harvested pods to bar! Highly recommended!

A fantastic tour into the world of cacao. The tour was a great educational experience through some amazing tropical plants, not just cacao. Maddy took us through the farm and talked about a lot of various plants and how the farm runs. We then sat down and talked about cacao and the process of making chocolate with plenty of tastings.

A terrific grounded and informative experience. Highly recommend. This is a very personal and interactive tour though a farm and retreat center that focuses on the cacao tree. Super cool to know how the earth and hard work bring us the delicious chocolate that we enjoy. Even if you are not a chocoholic the farm to product education is fascinating. Just sign up and go!

This experience with Maddy was FANTASTIC. Her love of plants and specifically cacao shined through the whole time; I loved how she framed her love of chocolate through the permaculture practices and the unique plants we learned about on the farm. Seeing all the effort that goes into the farm and the cultivation of the cacao was fascinating and Maddy clearly knows a TON about cacao and plants in general. I had never seen cacao flowers, pods, etc so this was really special and I loved tasting the cacao fruit and beans after getting some much new knowledge about their history, etc. It really gave me a newfound appreciation for chocolate! Also, the backdrop of the experience is awesome and we were surrounded by plants, farm animals (turkens!), and Xander the peacock. HIGHLY recommend this experience with Maddy.
