What you'll do

I will teach you how to make homemade pasta: Sicilian "maccheroni", "maltagliati", "cavatieddi" and "bisiati". First we will make the dough of fresh pasta made without eggs, with semolina flour, water and e.v. olive oil. We will make three classic classic pastas: bisiate, cavatieddi and maltagliati. When we finish, we will cook, eat and taste our pasta together and Anna will also offer coffee and cakes.

Anna

I'm 51 years old. Since i was a child i always liked cooking. I learned from my grandma to make hand made pasta and other typical Sicilian dishes such as macaroni, "bisiate" and "cavattieddi". I worked i from 2005 onwards as a cook assistant in restaurants and I also worked in food laboratories where meat and vegetable products were prepared. I also have HACCP certification, regular catering and banqueting license and together with my husband we run a home restaurant ( Anna's kitchen). I like to create tasty dishes using basic ingredients and traditional methods. I turned my passion into a job to communicate the secrets of this simple and tasty cuisine to others.

Where you'll be

Our interpreter will wait at the Scaletta Zanclea station. Our small village is known for its Rufo ruffo XI-XII castle, we will take a guided tour following a characteristic walk through the streets of the village. Then we will begin the culinary lesson in Anna's kitchen. Scaletta is a fantastic village a few steps from the sea. It is also close to famous cities like Messina, Taormina and Catania with its Etna volcano.
