What you'll do
Guests will be greeted by Forest and invited to sit down in his tearoom. While we begin preparing to drink our first tea, Forest will explain the basics of tea, including methods of preparation, tea culture, etiquette, and more. We will discuss each Camelia sinensis tea’s terrior, vintage, taste, smell, and energetic profile (i.e. notable physiological effects). Typically, Forest encourages the tasting participants to first enjoy the tea and comment on their observations before he gives his opinion on each tea. We will typically drink 3 teas during the 2 hour experience.
Guests typically have questions about Camellia sinensis (the tea plant), various processing methods, tea history, tea lore, and the medicinal aspects of tea. We look forward to seeing you soon.
Other things to note
Building has stairs and is not wheelchair accessible. The tearoom is indoors and guests will have access to pillows and blankets.

There were a series of synchronicities that all worked in our favor to have this tea tasting occur - it was wonderful! The space was peaceful and inviting, the conversation was fascinating and enlightening, which made the experience of tasting the tea even more memorable. We were also able to buy tea that we wanted to enjoy again to share with others. I highly recommend this experience!

For novices and tea nerds alike! Melanie and Forrest's tea tasting was a wonderful way to spend a drizzly afternoon.
Location:
Easy to get to on foot or using public transit. The neighborhood is cute, and close to other things to do. Their space is very beautiful and relaxing - lots of interesting things to look at without being cluttered.
The tasting:
They demonstrated three teas: a raw Pu-erh, a red oolong, and a ripe Pu-erh. If that sounds like gibberish to you, fear not! Melanie and Forrest are incredibly knowledgable, and are happy to tell you all about them! All three were quite enjoyable.
The people:
Melanie and Forrest are both very warm and friendly. Their love of tea and tea culture is apparent - conversation flowed and was not awkward. They also gave me some great suggestions on places to visit while I was in town!
Overall:
10/10 - will definitely stop by the next time I'm in town.
