Experience hosted by Luke

2 hours, Hosted in English

What you'll do

A tour for all ages just outside of Boulder (accessible by Taxi, Lyft & Uber). Tours start at sunset and last for 2 hours. The show will explore the night sky with several large telescopes and a laser pointer. We will see and learn about planets, constellations, navigation, satellites, nebula, clusters, galaxies, maybe some shooting stars, and our universe. Through telescopes we will get up close looks at these objects and take in their beauty with our own eyes. The tour takes place at a easy to find trailhead (no hiking required) where phenomenal sunsets and wildlife are often seen. Guests are provided with a red flashlight, comfy camp seating, bug spray, and bottled water(upon request). Guests are encouraged to bring questions, wonderment, and warm clothing (it can get cool after sunset)

I can add availability on most days by request to accommodate your travel plans (the sooner the request the better, I would like to know more than 1 week in advance)
Other things to note
Please be aware of weather, tour is subject to cancellation if it is too cloudy to see any stars

Hello there I'm Luke! Born and raised in Denver, I have a degree in astrophysics from CU, and over 9 years experience in communicating astronomy. Stargazing is my passion and I would love to show you the wonders of the rocky mountain high night sky!

My team has expanded to include my mother Karen who has offered to help me with messages and scheduling so don't be surprised if you get a message from her. As well as Christina who hosts tours.

Like was our guide and he sis an amazing job. His passion for the stars and the night skies was so contagious. I really learned a lot more than I was expecting. I’ll never forget that view of Saturn form the telescope. If you come in the colder months make sure to wear extra layers of clothing!! They have extra hats if you need them but the more blankets and layers the better as the night goes on.

Great evening with friends! We learned so much, got to see Saturn, Venus and the moon up close, and learned lots of interesting facts about nebulae. Awesome!

Luke was super knowledgeable and was able to speak to all of the best features of the October sky. We really wanted to stargaze in Boulder and despite some intermittent clouds, the experience did not disappoint. Luke stayed longer to answer our questions and find other features in the night sky. Highly recommend!

I'm an avid stargazer so when I saw this excursion, I convinced my husband to change up our days in Boulder to stay an extra day and it was well worth it! Luke and Maximus were knowledgeable plus knew their way around the telescopes well. I'd encourage anyone passing through this area to take advantage of this opportunity!

Definitely would recommend for the entire family or for couples! The host were great in explaining the science and mythology components of the stars. They made sure you were comfortable in asking questions and made themselves available for a 1:1 experience when looking through the telescopes. If you go late at night , do not underestimate the cold and bring extra blankets! I would totally do this again!
