What you'll do

A tour for all ages just outside of Boulder (accessible by Taxi, Lyft & Uber). Tours start at sunset and last for 2 hours. The show will explore the night sky with several large telescopes and a laser pointer. We will see and learn about planets, constellations, navigation, satellites, nebula, clusters, galaxies, maybe some shooting stars, and our universe. Through telescopes we will get up close looks at these objects and take in their beauty with our own eyes. The tour takes place at a easy to find trailhead (no hiking required) where phenomenal sunsets and wildlife are often seen. Guests are provided with a red flashlight, comfy camp seating, bug spray, snacks, hot water, tea, instant coffee, hot chocolate, and cookies. Guests are encouraged to bring questions, wonderment, and warm clothing (it can get cool after sunset)

I can add availability on most days by request to accommodate your travel plans (the sooner the request the better, I would like to know more than 1 week in advance)

Hello there I'm Luke! Born and raised in Denver, I have a degree in astrophysics from CU, and over 9 years experience in communicating astronomy. Stargazing is my passion and I would love to show you the wonders of the rocky mountain high night sky!

My mother Karen has offered to help me with messages and scheduling so don't be surprised if you get a message from her.

Luke draws you into experiencing the night sky and thinking about larger astronomy ideas through a combination of stories, facts, and watching the night sky itself.

I had a wonderful experience. Luke is very knowledgeable and had top notch set up. His presentation was enlightening and entertaining, and he took all the necessary precautions for covid. I was truly taken aback by the views of 3 planets and constellations he showed us. Highly recommend this excellent experience!

Our experience with Luke's astronomy tour was excellent. Luke provided great telescopes to view the sky, and helped to explain the constellations, the zodiacs, and the nearest & brightest neighbors in the sky. Since he provided so many telescopes, we were easily able to cycle through multiple items in the sky. Luke provided wonderful guidance about the night sky. I would recommend this experience, highly!

Super Awesome experience! If you see this, you must go! Especially if you are coming from an area where you do not get to see planets and stars that easily. he has multiple telescopes that show great images

What could be better than star gazing in the mountains?? Truly a unique experience and Luke’s knowledge of astronomy made it that much cooler. Highly recommend spending a night looking at the stars and learning about the constellations.

Disclaimer: I am from Michigan, I have little to no prior knowledge of all things celestial, and I did not know what an “astrology tour” was. That being said, I’m going to (kind of) describe this start to finish so you know what to expect, because I really had no idea what I was getting myself into! You meet at a trailhead at the dead end of a dirt road with minimal light pollution. Luke has a couple rows of camp chairs set up and several different telescopes all with different jobs. While everyone is arriving you get to look through the telescopes and get your eyes adjusted to darkness. Luke will be rambling adorably about what the telescopes are pointing at. You can tell by the excitement in his voice that he genuinely loves what he does and wants you to enjoy this experience just as much. (This is when you realize you need to get the blanket out of tour car because it’s much colder than you expected). You look through the telescopes and can see multiple planets, nebulas and different groupings of stars. After everyone arrives Luke has you take a seat and he tells about himself, his schooling, his knowledge, his travels abroad, life experiences... this is when you start thinking ‘I’m going to learn way more than I thought I was going to.’ He has this laser that he points all around as he directs you to look at different constellations, telling you stories of the history of how they got their names, their placement in the sky, their sizes. He uses really simple measurements to help you understand the actual size of these stars and planets which is when you realize how CRAZY small we are. Luke is a wizard with numbers, he is fluent in his teachings and you wills leave feeling like you just graduated as the Star of your class in astrophysical and planetary sciences. He takes questions, gets to know you.. he will tell you how your sky at home compares to the sky you’re looking at here, depending on your location in regards to the equator. If you are into zodiac signs and horoscopes you will also love this tour. You can learn about different retrogrades, when each planet enters different signs. Something as simple as the Big Dipper doesn’t even seem so simple anymore. Different cultures and different countries have different names for the constellations, and some older civilizations even used the stars as eye tests to enter the military. You will get to see some crazy stuff through the telescopes, ask as many questions and you’d like, and you’ll probably leave wanting to pursue a career in something astronomical. 10/10 recommend this to anyone of all ages
