What you'll do

I will pick you up at BUS STOP NUMBER 8, next to the big Church Hallgrímskirkja, downtown Reykjavík.
We drive to Reykjadalur (Steam Valley). There we hike and bath in a warm river, in total about 3 hours. The hike is an experience that you won’t forget. Reykjadalur (Steam Valley) is a geothermal area as the name implies and a popular hiking route only about 30 minutes drive from Reykjavik. Not only will you get a lovely hiking day but you can dip into the warm river that run in the valley. Remember swimsuit, good shoes and your camera!
Not very difficult hike.
Other things to note
Good shoes, swimsuit, towel and proper clothes for the activity

I am born and raised in Iceland. Living next door to nature it became clear very early that I would become a geologist. There is no better place than peaceful nature. Birdsong in the summer is a plus. I love nature, hiking the wild and Iceland is a paradise for both. I want to take you on a journey to Reykjadalur Valley, where geothermal hot water mixes with the river running through the valley, making it perfect for bathing. Adventure and destress with me in tranquility, in nature, next door to Reykjavík. A mindful hike and geothermal bath close to the capital.
My cohost is Stone, who is a landscape photographer and an adventurer. He has biked most trails that exist in Iceland and probably knows Iceland better than most people.
We look forward to meet you!!

Helga was a wonderful host. She was friendly, warm, deeply knowledgeable, and made everyone feel welcome. The hike was beautiful, of low difficulty but with beautiful scenery, and bathing in the hot spring-fed stream was a great experience. We chatted with Helga on the way up and down and she is an interesting person who makes great conversation. On the drive there and back she told us interesting things about the landscape. She also always made sure to show concern that everyone was having a good time. We wouldn’t hesitate to do another tour with her. Thank you Helga!

This was such a fun thing to do, going on a really beautiful hike in an unique landscape to soak in a hot spring river...! I mean, come on, you’re in Iceland and you should be experiencing that! Helga is a wonderful person, knowledgable, interesting and kind, and was a fantastic guide for this experience. We are so glad we took this hike with Helga! It was a highlight of our trip.

Amazing, once in a life time experience! Small groups make it so personal, easy hike for non-hikers and breath taking scenery. Thanks so much!

Our trip up the Rekjadalur valley with Helga, to the thermal river, was unforgettable. The landscape goes up up up , past stunning views, but was never difficult for even an out-of-shape old lady with a bad foot (me) to traverse. We went at a gentle pace, and stopped to chat about the landscape, the sheep, the flowers and plants, you name it. Our group included Helga, myself (plus husband and 15 y.o. son), another couple, and a spry college girl from Estonia. We all went at different paces, but all had fun together. A relaxing soak in the thermal river is putting it mildly - it was fantastic! We then rambled down, snacking on Icelandic treats along the way, piled into Helga's big car, and trundled back to the capital, with Helga giving us geological pointers along the way. We LOVED it!
