What you'll do

This is a very hands-on experience - you will learn the basics of glassblowing (aka "lamp-working") and progress through to create your own pipe(s) in your choice of colors and design! We keep our group size to only 4 people at a time so that you have a truly one-on-one experience with a lot of hands-on time on the torch (for groups of 4 the experience will be approx. 3 hours). Also, if the published time slot does not work for you on the day you want to come, just send us a message - we can usually move around a few things in our schedule to accommodate your request. :-)

Once you arrive, Jason will first go over the fundamentals of glassblowing and the safety rules. You will get to choose from a variety of pieces of what you want to make and in what colors. After that, he will explain and demonstrate each move on the torch, and then it's your turn! With his hands-on guidance, you will create at least one to two glass pipes to take home with you PLUS you get to keep the pieces that Jason demos for you!

**Please note: The pieces you create will need to cool in the kiln for approx. one hour after the experience ends - please factor this additional time into your day. You can drive to the nearby "Paddle Pub" (3 miles) for a bite to eat while your waiting, but if you are not able to wait for the glass items to anneal in the kiln, we can ship them to you ($20 USA only)

Jason is a second-generation professional glassblower with 30 years experience. His artistic process began as a young child when he started learning the fundamentals of glassblowing from his parents, both glassblowers. Jason's career started at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas as a demonstration artist glassblower, where he had the opportunity to work aside many world-renowned glassblowers, which gave him a broad perspective of techniques.

Our business, Starry Night Glass Art, offers custom made glass memorial keepsakes, hand-crafted with the utmost care and respect in order to preserve the memory of your departed loved one or loyal pet. By taking a small amount of ashes and fusing them within lab-grade quality glass, he creates a lasting and artistic tribute, celebrating the life of your loved one or pet with beauty and grace.

If you are on the edge in deciding whether to do this, GO FOR IT. It may seem pricey but is well worth it. I got this as a Christmas gift for my boyfriend. We previously did the knife forging experience and loved it, and figured this hands on experience would be great as well. It did not disappoint. Jason was very clear and communicative, we felt comfortable and safe the whole time. He guides you throughout the process but you really are taking the reigns a lot of the time, which is awesome. It was great talking with Jason about his experience in glass blowing too, he is passionate about this and it shows. We also got to meet one of his pups who was very sweet :) Our pieces turned out beautiful and we intend to go back for another class at some point. This is definitely an experience you can and SHOULD cross off of your bucket list!

Stephanie and Jason are the nicest people on the planet! We were all beginners, but Jason made sure that we all felt safe and that we knew what we were doing. And we were able to go home with 2 pieces each! It was a great time 10/10 would go again

AMAZING experience, 10 out of 10, definitely a necessity to try, Jason was obviously a professional with vast experience and was able to masterfully teach the process. Incredibly immersive experience where you get the chance to do the entire process, start to finish, by yourself.

Blowing and crafting glass has been a bucket list dream of mine for quite a long time! I left this experience feeling so excited about the artwork I got to make! Jason made us feel welcomed, was EXTREMELY knowledgeable, and was just a great person to spend time with! The facility is absolutely beautiful and the area it sits in is stunning. I will be telling anyone and everyone who is willing to listen about my experience how great it was! Anyone headed to the Seattle area - even for a brief moment - NEEDS to take advantage of this amazing opportunity! Some of the best money I’ve ever spent! I’ll be back for sure!
