What you'll do

I will guide you on a gorgeous circular route in Morwenstow taking us through some of the Southwest's most remote, wild and spectacular terrain which has a rich and fascinating history. This route packs in a lot of different elements and includes a section along some of Cornwall's highest and wildest clifftops, follows a secluded hidden valley, and passes through peaceful meadows and ancient churchyards.

Along the way you we will take in the incredible views, stop at some amazing local spots and learn about the rich and wild history of an area best known for shipwrecks, smuggling and eccentric poets. We will pass through Morwenstow church and it's spectacular clifftop setting and stop at Hawker's hut, a tiny shelter set into the cliff face which was built out of shipwrecked wood in 1843.

The route will take between 1.5 and 2.5 hours depending on walking pace but the route can be changed easily to meet your needs. We can vary the distance of the tour as well, ranging from 1.5 mile route to a 4 mile one.

Other things to note
The route is for the most part easy walking but there are two short steeper sections. Guests should have a good level of fitness and be able to walk up and down steep steps and trails.

Where you'll be

The route is a combination of seldom used footpaths, the South West coast path and woodland trails. This section of the coast is wild, spectacular and extremely varied. Thankfully it's still way off the beaten track due to it's remoteness and inaccessibility. However this remoteness comes at a price, as unfortunately the meeting point is near impossible to reach without a car, so please don't book this hike unless you have your own transport.

David is a fantastic guide! He really pays attention, he adapted the hike to our style and needs. He told stories about the local area and mixed in some historical knowledge whilst showing us the breathtaking views of the North Devon coast. David was really personable. He takes a genuine interest in his clients and always knows how to spark good conversation. I’ve got no doubt that David will be very successful in his future plans, which he was kind enough to share with us The hike was so much fun that we ended up meeting David again the day after and got to see the forest and valleys

Thoroughly enjoyed a morning hike - turned out it was just me who booked, so ended up getting a private tour of a really beautiful location - definitely one to explore, unspoilt and in some respects quite remote in that you certainly won’t encounter many other tourists, and some of the views are just stunning! David is a great tour guide, clearly very passionate and enthusiastic about the area, and great to have someone who knows where they’re going so you can enjoy the scenery without worrying about navigating it! Very friendly, and easy to talk to. Most importantly, travelling on this occasion as a single female, I did not feel unsafe in any way. Wholeheartedly recommend and would not hesitate to get in touch again when next I’m back this way.

Great walk planned by David, the pace and scenery were perfect. It helped a lot that David knew some history of the area and shared this with us during the walk. David is friendly and relaxed organiser which made the experience even more enjoyable for us. He offered to take many pictures of us, which was kind of him :). Definitely one of the best events we did during our visit to Cornwall and Devon. Thank you David! If we're ever in the area again, we will not hesitate to book another experience with him.

I was a little nervous about this as I’m quite shy but I have to say it was a fabulous experience. The scenery was stunning and watching the gently rolling ocean from a craggy outcrop was magical. David was a fabulous guide, sharing interesting insights into local history history and geography. The conversation flowed naturally and easily and I felt as though I was walking with a friend. A huge thank you and I would whole heartedly recommend this experience.

David takes you on an absolutely picturesque walk along the northern Cornish coast that would have been difficult for a newcomer to the area to discover. The coastal views will forever be embedded in my memory.
